Today we’d like to introduce you to Wook Shin
Wook, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I migrated to America in 2006 and started working at sushi restaurant in the same year. I then moved to Sushi Ota and worked under Ota-san for five years. From there, I worked at Ken Sushi for another five years before opening my own Sushi restaurant. I learned everything I know about the art of making sushi from Ota-san and Ken-san. I am forever thankful for their teachings. In 2022, with the blessings from God and the help of my family and friends, I opened Moment sushi. This place isn’t simply a place to work, it is my pride and joy.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Everything in life has ups and down but God is always with me and protect me and my restaurant. We are able to overcome everything thanks to His Blessings.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a sushi chef at my restaurant. I can make basically everything in this restaurant from making sushi rolls to nigiri. I specialize in creating omakase and kaiseki and nigiri.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was when I went with my mother to a restaurant for T.G.I.Friday. It was our family monthly tradition where I get to spend time with my mother and sister and enjoy delicious meals.
