Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Love.
Hi Yvonne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My Story
My name is Yvonne Love,
My journey hasn’t been easy, but it has shaped, and formed, me to become the woman I am today. I thank God for every twist and turn, for every detour, and for every pit stop. it’s been a joyful and sometimes painful experience, all wrapped in purpose and destiny. But I would not change a thing.
I was born in Chicago, Illinois, to parents who migrated from Alabama and Tennessee. My dad moved north to Chicago with his brother, and my mom with hers as well. That’s how they met, and eventually my 4 siblings and I were born.
When the auto industry began booming in Michigan, my dad took a job at Pontiac Motors, In Pontiac Michigan, and that’s where we grew up. We had a wonderful childhood. My father worked hard—he was not only employed at Pontiac Motors, as a driver, but he also owned his own auto body shop, and taught vocational education at a local high school. My mom, is full of creativity, she loves art and sculpture. She was also a gifted seamstress, and it was from her that I learned to sew at the age of twelve.
I loved fashion from an early age. I spent hours dressing my dolls, combing their hair, and making them clothes. By the time I reached junior high, I was sewing my own outfits. One of my proudest moments came in 9th grade when I was voted “Best Dressed” in my entire 9th grade class.
In high school, I studied clothing and textiles and deepened my passion for fashion and design.
As an adult, I pursued cosmetology. I fell in love with hair, beauty, and the art of styling, and I built a career in cosmetology throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
But at 35, my life took an unexpected turn. After a flu shot, I developed Guillain-Barré Syndrome and woke up one morning completely paralyzed. Doctors told me I might never walk again—or if I did, it would be with a limp—and that I might never regain full use of my arms. But by God’s grace, after about a year of determination and faith, I was fully healed. Today, I have no limp, no disability, and a powerful testimony.
Once I recovered, I explored new paths. I studied in the paralegal field for a few years (though it wasn’t for me). I took business courses, and medical billing. Still, my true passions—cosmetology and fashion—never left me.
In 2022, after retiring, I moved to Temecula, California.
With the help of the SBDC, I started my small business, Love’s Perfect Pieces, to learn how to build and run a brand. Now, I’m pursuing my dream of opening my very own boutique and beauty salon here in Temecula.
This new chapter excites me beyond words. Every step of my journey—through challenges and triumphs—has prepared me for this moment. And I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring my vision to life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, the road has not been smooth, hence why I am in my senior years and starting over in life.
I have lost my way, and been distracted many times. I have suffered loss in my family, and in relationships, my health has failed me at times. I have been rejected and overlooked. But those things happened in the past. Sometimes I struggle to get up and get moving on a daily basis but, I think about my goals, my vision and my passion, about my future generations that will come even after I’m gone. With that being said, I absolutely can’t give up! Even on my fellow Americans who may need hope, inspiration, or encouragement, which may be accomplished through just hearing my story.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Love’s Perfect Pieces, a faith-inspired fashion and lifestyle brand that combines beauty, creativity, and purpose. My work spans custom fashion design, luxury women’s accessories, handcrafted polymer clay jewelry, sublimation tumblers, tote bags, and apparel. I also create faith-based devotionals and journals, as well as provide style coaching for women 50+.
At the heart of my business is the belief that fashion should be more than clothing—it should be an expression of faith, confidence, and individuality. I specialize in custom, and one-of-a-kind pieces that allow women to feel elegant, stylish, and empowered.
I am most proud of bringing my lifelong passions for sewing, beauty, and design together to become a thriving professional business brand. But beyond the products themselves, I am proud of the story behind my journey—how I overcame paralysis and other life challenges to step into this new season of purpose.
I’m also deeply proud of creating Styled by Grace, a devotional and journal series that connects faith with fashion. It’s one of my greatest joys to inspire women not only through style but also through spiritual encouragement. This project will be completed in the near future and will be the highlight of my brand.
What sets me apart is the fusion of faith, fashion, and creativity in everything I do. I don’t just make products—I tell a story with every design, weaving together elegance, inspiration, and purpose.
My brand is rooted in authenticity: the clothes and accessories are thoughtfully designed, the devotionals are prayerfully written, and the experiences I will offer through styling and coaching will be personalized and heartfelt.
I also cater to a mature audience of women who want to look stylish without losing grace, modesty, or individuality. This unique focus—along with my background in cosmetology, sewing, and faith-based inspiration—makes Love’s Perfect Pieces a brand that is not only fashionable, but also soulful.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
The Bible is my best most informative book of all! I went through a whole Certified business class in which the bible was the foundation of the course! I also like to watch creatives on YouTube. I love Books by Joseph Prince, David Jeremiah, and Dr. Bill Winston. I also enjoyed reading Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Social Media Marketing by Jason McDonald. I love many types of books, and usually there’s a purpose, or motive behind everything I do. Even reading.
