Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Bhatia.
Hi Alisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My mom had me when she was 16 years old, and even though she didn’t graduate high school, she instilled education as a cornerstone of importance in my life. In fact, at a young age, she encouraged me in pursing law or medicine! Well, after a mock trial experience, I knew that direction wasn’t for me.
I was fortunate to take an “Intro to Pre-Med” class at Portland State University and was introduced to a Naturopathic Doctor, who was one of an array of various professionals who came to speak to us. She shared what medical philosophy was, that it was about treating the cause, the whole person, using the healing power of nature, focusing on prevention, and doctors actually teaching their patients, as well as honoring what all medical professions are to subscribe to, first due no harm. At her presentation she served tea, and needless to say, I fell in love with the medicine!
Fast forward, I started a private practice in Multnomah Village, a quaint area in Portland, Oregon in 2011. The following year, my parents moved to Temecula. They were entrepreneurial, and purchased a spa, and invited me to come down, and start a new practice here.
I was reluctant. Afterall, starting from scratch and building your patient/client base is no easy task. However, the sunshine was calling me, and I was ready to leave the rain, so I did.
Now, I’m happy to say I’ve been practicing natural medicine for 10 years!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
May 2012 was my 1st month of practice in California, and it was a challenge, to be starting from zero. No patients, no contacts, and no money for advertising.
I was lucky to get introduced to another Naturopathic Doctor in San Diego who needed someone to run the IV practice. I’d drive down from Temecula a few days per week, and the rest of the week I was putting in sweat equity to building my own business by attending networking events, groups, giving free health talks, and anything I could.
It worked, persistence is the key!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a Naturopathic Doctor, I help people overcome their health challenges, using natural remedies, diet, and lifestyle medicine.
Common things that I have success with include:
-Thyroid health
-Hormone balance
-Gut health
I’m proud that I help others, because health is wealth!
Today, I was amazed to get a patients lab work, showing she no longer had an autoimmune condition of Pernicous Anemia. My goal is to educate, enhance, and empower patients lives, for them to be healthy and happy. Oh, and I was honored to be a part of Hal Elrod’s, The Miracle Morning movie in 2020.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
If you or someone you know needs some health answers, or just want to look at optimizing their health, I’d be happy to help! My practice is virtual, so help is in the comfort of your home!
