Daily Inspiration: Meet Alynn Etzler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alynn Etzler

Hi Alynn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As the principal designer and owner of San Diego Interior Design Group (SDIDG), I’ve been shaping beautiful spaces for 13 + years. Originally from northern Canada, I moved to San Diego in my early 20s, and after calling this city home for so long, I’m deeply connected to its vibrant culture and surroundings, which constantly inspire my designs.

Design is second nature to me—I find creative inspiration everywhere, whether in nature, architecture, or the people I meet. I believe that the environments we live and work in are just as important to our well-being as healthy eating and exercise. A thoughtfully designed space has the power to nurture and restore.

As a long-time single mother, I’ve built a ‘never give up’ mindset that influences both my life and my work. Each day is about showing up, staying resilient, and teaching my children that perseverance pays off. It’s challenging, but it’s what drives me forward and helps me connect with my clients on a deeper level.

When working with clients, my goal is to create a ‘put your feet up’ space—beautiful, functional, and, most importantly, reflective of their unique personalities. I love incorporating meaningful items that give clients a true sense of home, while also curating new pieces to elevate their space. Ultimately, my designs are about creating a sanctuary where they can unplug, recharge, and feel at peace.

I’m excited for the next chapter of SDIDG. Helping clients enhance their lives through design has been an incredible journey, and I look forward to continuing this creative path.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth and it consistently keeps me on my toes. Navigating through fluctuating economies and workflows is a constant challenge, yet it drives me to adapt and discover innovative ways to forge relationships and remain relevant in the design industry.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My background is holistic, and I specialize in creating designs and spaces that exude relaxation and a sense of tranquility.

I am a real person with real morals and values, and I cherish the opportunity to connect with my clients. It’s most rewarding when clients can visualize their new spaces together with me.

I’ve discovered that this approach results in spaces that align more closely with their lifestyle, instilling a sense of belonging. It’s fulfilling to witness how transforming a space can uplift and improve someone’s life.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck, I think that you get out of life, what you put into it.
My attitude has always been to put my feet on the ground in the morning and with intention and a sense of purpose.
