Daily Inspiration: Meet Alyssa Revecho

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Revecho

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up, I was always someone with a wide array of creative passions. From art to fashion, dance, sports, and media—any form of creativity that allowed me to express myself was something I was naturally drawn to.

When I entered high school, I decided to create my first-ever YouTube video. I grabbed a camera and asked myself, “What could I possibly share that the world might find interesting about me?” At the time, I had just joined a competitive cheerleading team and thought it would be fun to vlog about cheerleading tips and my growing love for the sport. What started as a simple vlog quickly turned into an all-consuming passion. Cheerleading had a profound impact on me, shaping me into the independent, driven, and motivated person I am today.

As I began considering colleges, I knew one thing for sure—I wanted to try out for a cheerleading team. I was determined to continue my passion for encouraging others while creating a positive, inclusive environment within the community. During my campus tours, I instantly fell in love with UC San Diego. It felt like home, and as a SoCal native, I was the type of girl who thrived on the beach, catching waves and soaking up the sun.

Being a student-athlete during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic was an experience like no other. As everything shifted online, the leadership and student body had to adapt quickly to maintain a sense of community. One day, a member of the athletic board stumbled across one of my YouTube videos about cheerleading at UCSD, and an idea was born. Thanks to my passion for UCSD and my growing media presence, I was hired as the official Broadcast Media Host for all UCSD events, athletics, admissions, and extracurricular activities.

Cheerleading at UCSD not only strengthened my skills in both cheerleading and media but also opened doors for my modeling career. After graduating, I was fortunate to work with incredible photographers and creatives in the San Diego area. These opportunities led me to participate in major events like Orange County Fashion Week in 2023 and San Diego Swim Week in 2023 and 2024.

The community I’ve found in San Diego—where my modeling and athletic careers have flourished—has been nothing short of amazing. Cheerleading at UCSD ignited my passion for the sport and gave me the confidence to pursue it at a professional level. While balancing modeling, YouTube, work, and school, I also trained for my first professional cheerleading auditions.

Now, as we enter 2024, I’ve achieved my goals: I’m thriving in my new career as a medical device sales representative and cheering professionally for the NHL Anaheim Ducks. My time as a cheerleader at UC San Diego has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. To this day, I take immense pride in my Triton spirit and remain deeply grateful for how it has shaped the person I’ve become and the opportunities I’ve been given—especially my position as an NHL cheerleader!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The path to success is never truly linear. In every endeavor we take we must suffer many no’s before we can hear those yes’s. With both cheerleading and modeling, I have faced my own fair share of rejection. I am a firm believer that there are no such things as “failures”, but rather obstacles or re=directions that can catalyze us to move in an upwards direction.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Artist/Creative: Model, YouTuber, NHL Cheerleader Anaheim Ducks

What sets me apart from others is my utter passion for what I love and what I set my mind to. I see many things in life as art; a way to express ourselves in ways more powerful than words.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for anybody who is starting out in pursing their passion is to simply never give up. I believe that those who achieve great things do not always come from perfectly accommodated backgrounds, experience or connections. You have to trust yourself that you are capable of what you aspire to be and what you set your mind to–because the truth is, you certainly are! Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game. Do not listen to voices of others who don’t believe in you or say something is too difficult. Half of our success is believing that we can within ourselves, and this statement has proven true to all of the passions I have been able to accomplish!
