Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Green.
Hi Amanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2019, I was a stay-at-home mom to 4 children and had been for 10 years, my “baby” was about to attend kindergarten, and I was at a loss of what my role was now that all of my kids would be in school. I was mentally and emotionally struggling with not being “as needed,” on top of finding who I was outside of being a “mom.” I wanted to find something for me to do productive with my time and also help my mental health. I decided to look into workout classes and see if I could find one that spoke to me. I was lucky to have found that, with Barre, the studio felt like I was meant to be there. Fast forward to 2020 I auditioned to be an instructor and moved into an instructor role on March 18, 2020…(we all know this is the day the world shutdown). I wouldn’t be on the mic for another 6 months, starting in the parking lot in front of a donut shop. Nerves were definitely real, but I couldn’t be more excited to finally being able to instruct. After teaching I found myself wanting more and after 2 1/2 years moved into the “mentor” role, responsible for all trainings, and continued education in that role. Shortly thereafter I still felt as if I was meant to still do more, around the same time the prior owner approached me to see if I had interest in owning the studio. Without hesitation I said “yes!” February 2024, I took over ownership and grew the studio. January of 2025 I was informed that the franchise was acquired, and we would be becoming Barre3 Encinitas. That is where we are at now, offering Signature and Strength classes, with more to come.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest struggle was change, not everyone loves change and moving from one format of classes to the newest was not an easy transition for staff as well as clients. Our clients are loyal, through through to the format they loved so much, so trying to get them excited and fall in love with the new format has had it’s challenges.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Owner/Instructor/Mentor at Barre3 Encinitas. Not only teaching classes, but supporting my staff, training them and being their mentor to help them grow and provide remarkable classes. I’m most proud of this transition, although it has come with many challenges, it has helped me grow in all aspects of my life. It hasn’t been easy but I think that I’ve handled it with grace and determination to be a cheerleader for my clients and staff as we all navigated this journey together. What sets me apart from others, teaching dynamic and challenging classes while at the same time saying some really funny comments on the mic.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I feel the timing of buying the studio was really good luck. Having a year of ownership under my belt before transition to a new franchise was definitely a win.
