Daily Inspiration: Meet Bird Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bird Davis.

Bird Davis

Hi Bird, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My photography journey started back in 2021 . My mom actually got me my first camera which i didn’t use for a few months after . Once i finally decided to use it the rest was history . My cousins Keith Welch (KwelchVisuals) and Brandon Davis (justbmedia) were the first 2 to inspire me both based out of the Bay Area . Them being former athletes like myself and just seeing them thrive with the camera gave me the fire that i needed to pursue my new passion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Throughout my journey I’ve had many up’s and downs . The biggest struggle I’ve come across so far was in the beginning stages of my photography journey and that was just getting my name out there to get clients. Once i stopped focusing on making money and building clientele that’s when both started to come. Once i started focusing on just shooting for the love of it and stopped worrying about my clientele that’s when my clientele grew. Having to do a lot of free work just to get my name out there and to build relationships has paid off now to where I’m at 3 years later .

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a San Diego based photographer from the Vallejo Ca . I don’t really specialize in anything specific i have a camera for a reason so i try not to limit myself in the things that i shoot. I shoot everything . The thing that I’m most proud of is myself . From when i first started to now my work has gotten so much better . Thank you to everyone that has helped me with my journey . I think the thing that sets me apart is that i always remain myself there’s no difference between Bird not doing photography vs Bird doing photography you’ll get the same version of myself.

How do you think about luck?
I’ve been fortunate enough to come across some other great photographers ( Justin Truong , Gio Vicente, Isiah Jones and Eric Bland) that were kind enough to support and help with my journey and i consider that good luck . No bad luck has come yet and i hope it stays that way .
