Today we’d like to introduce you to Branden Cobb.
Hi Branden, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was with a 2 family run company in San Diego with 130 real estate associates and 6 offices throughout San Diego County till we were merged in with Corcoran Global Living in September 2020. Corcoran Global Living started in February 2020 and has since grew to more than 2300 sales associates in 66 offices.
As a result of the merge, opportunities became available for all of us. The sales associates were immediately serviced with more offerings and I expanded the territory and number of associates and offices I was supporting. From there I was grateful the senior leadership at Corcoran Global Living saw potential in me taking on a bigger role and have moved on to head up our Leads Development Department companywide.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle for me was making the move to California from Ohio. There was culture shock to overcome and lots of persistence required to get where I am today. Prior to partnering with Corcoran Global Living, it was difficult as a smaller company to compete with some of the offerings of larger companies. Now we are able to not only compete, but provide the best offerings as a united group.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As Executive Vice President of Leads Development, I oversee the generation of leads, funneling them to our call center and working with them on best practices and procedures for nurturing leads into appointment and then passing off to our sales associates to take in-person appointments. From there, we’ve implemented coaching, tracking, and other remedies to improve appointment to close rates. Then once an appointment closes we are able to take a portion of the profit and reinvest back into generating more leads which then grows the entire system.
I am most proud of being with a great company, in a great role, while living in “America’s Finest City” San Diego.
My ability to problem solve with creative solutions and set goals then stay hyper focused and motivated to achieve them are what sets me apart. No professional accomplishment has been easy, but there also hasn’t been a professional challenge I haven’t yet been able to meet with some form of success through a good work ethic and tenacity.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, there are many things that can be done from a distance that makes it more efficient. There is always a value to having meetings in-person. I believe it holds people more accountable and also builds more rapport. But at the same time, there is much travel time and expenses that can be saved by working virtually and thus allowing for even more business development time.
