Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Sicari.
Hi Brittany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Even If Candle Company wasn’t really supposed to be a “company” to start with. Being a small business owner wasn’t an idea or even a thought that came through my mind. My intentions were really just to make some candles and use them for myself and give and sell locally. But God showed that He had bigger plans. He’s always doing more than expected.
Being that the New Year, 2023 is upon us, I can’t help but reflect on where Even If started and where it is now. With a lot of work, and testing and tears, and rebranding. I can say that I am proud to handcraft my own concrete vessels, allowing for more of a uniqueness and “home decor” feel. I can say that we still use non-toxic and all-natural ingredients in each product. We now create beautiful room/linen sprays using clean, premium ingredients poured in amber glass bottles. We love adding variety to our brand for our customers!
I’m so incredibly thankful for each customer, returning and new, Of course, the support I get from my family by continuing to show and spread this business name around is incredible. My number one fan would have to be my Husband. He plays a huge role in this by being the one organizing all of my business expenses, lending an ear, attending every vendor event, taking product photos, and the list goes on. He never ceases to amaze me by his love and support.
There is still much to learn and to try out. But as of today, I stand with confidence behind these handmade products, and I’m looking forward to seeing what Even If will be up to this coming year.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are many challenges and struggles that come about when I decided to start this business. If someone says it’s easy, then they aren’t doing it right. (She says lovingly)
I’ve had so much to learn and continue to learn daily. I’m sure every business owner out there feels or has felt the same way.
Questions would fill my head. What was my brand going to look like, how much time could I dedicate, financially what could I do, so I could cash flow everything, does my husband support this, is it a wise move, will it be worth it, and so on.
I had to sit down and reflect on why I felt called into this.
Does God really want to use me in a candle business? What could He possibly want from this? Is He sure that I can do it?
My faith is strong, but I still, unfortunately, find myself doubting at times. If I’m not trusting in the Lord and listening, then I see myself struggle more. It’s funny how that works! Maybe God can pull this off after all. Haha!
Obstacles will arise, no question. But I’ve said this in a previous interview, and I will keep saying it. This is not my business. God is the only reason for Even if. He is simply allowing me to prosper in this neat way. As long as I feel this is what I’m meant for, then I will continue.
Praying still that we keep “Spreading light to a dark world, one candle at a time.” May you find peace and hope in Him today and every other day.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
There are many roles I have in this business. Coming up with ideas, learning, creating vessels, testing and more testing with each product, business finance, keeping all media updated including YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. Putting my website together, and then of course the actual selling of product whether it’s from a vendor event, locally in the community, or shipping across the United States through my website. This is all done by yours truly. It can be overwhelming at times. But I love all of it. Learning everything and being able to say “I do that” is something. I continue to strive and grow. I also know it takes time and patience. Maybe one day down the road, Even If will have employees! But for now, I will continue to do the best I can, working hard and moving forward.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
One Bible verse that comes to mind with this interview is Romans 8:28-“And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose”. So, I will continue to do just that.
