Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruna Noonan
Hi Bruna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I founded Grazing Box San Diego in 2020, right at the height of the pandemic. The idea came to me unexpectedly one day when I was looking for a breakfast gift basket to send to my mom in Brazil. As I searched, I realized there weren’t many options like that here in the U.S. So, after some reflection, I remembered a concept I had come across from Australia—”grazing,” which involves curated assortments of cheeses, meats, fruits, and other treats.
Instead of just creating a traditional breakfast basket, I thought, why not create a grazing box? It seemed like a perfect fit, especially for a time when people were craving comfort, variety, and something special. I decided to curate boxes filled with high-quality cheeses, meats, and fresh fruits—something I knew would resonate with people who love good food, especially cheese (because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love cheese?).
In 2020, the concept was still pretty new in the U.S., and even in San Diego, not many were doing it. I was one of the first to launch this kind of business here, and I’m proud to have been able to bring something fresh and exciting to the local food scene, especially during such a challenging time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Opening a business is always challenging, and doing so during the pandemic added extra hurdles. As an immigrant from Brazil, I also had concerns about whether my English would be good enough to run the business effectively. But the concept took off right away, and that gave me the confidence to keep going.
The real challenges came as the business grew. Getting the right licenses and permits turned out to be a bigger task than I expected, but with time, I learned to navigate the process and keep everything on track.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are a catering company specializing in cheese and charcuterie, known for our commitment to our clients and the high-quality ingredients we use. Whether it’s individual charcuterie cups or large grazing tables, we cater to a wide range of events, with a particular focus on corporate clients.
What I’m most proud of is the business I’ve built from the ground up. Overcoming challenges, especially as someone not originally from here, has made the journey all the way more rewarding. What really sets me apart from others in the industry is my drive and determination. I’m a hustler at heart—always pushing for the best and never settling for less. That relentless attitude is reflected in both the products and the services we offer, ensuring that every client gets nothing short of excellence.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family and friends have been my biggest support, especially my husband. He’s always pushed me and given me the confidence to keep going, no matter the challenges. Their belief in me has been key to my success.
