Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Pajardo.
Hi Cheyenne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a born and raised Baltimore, Maryland gal who absolutely adores the east coast and all it has to offer. After graduating from undergrad, I decided that I needed change and what better change than moving 3,000 miles away! I’m still bi-costal, but I enjoy a lot of time in the sunny city of Los Angeles. I wear many different hats–I’m a dance educator, a content creator, an ice crew member for the LA Kings, a public speaker for Mental Health Awareness, and a published author. I’m most excited to share with y’all today my journey with content creation!
In case you’re still reading and want to know some fun and random things about me:
— I am IN LOVE with chicken tenders. I know, I know…it’s a child’s favorite, but hey! Aren’t we all kids at heart?
— I love love. HUGE believer that loves is essential to growth.
— I still have baby teeth even though I’m an adult…shoutout weirdly grown teeth!
— I have tattoos and cannot wait to add to my collection. I’ll probably have a sleeve soon…sorry, Mom!
— I currently listen to mostly: Lil Pretzel, Eminem, Jessie Reyez, A Boogie, JP Saxe, Julia Michaels, & Mac Miller
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This is definitely not a clean-cut answer! I think we’d have to define the word smooth because we all view things so differently. I would say that any and every journey worth taking is going to be met with obstacles that we cannot predict nor fully prepare for. That’s just the reality of life, and while it’s frustrating, it’s absolutely beautiful! As humans, we are so controlling (myself included) and we expect that everything go our way all the time. But, how realistic is that?
Not. At. All.
I’ll spare you the answers that I’m sure you’re expecting and will say that the biggest obstacle for me, in totality, is juggling all the things while having depression and anxiety. Though the public discussion around Mental Health is becoming more prominent, it can still be a pretty taboo thing to talk about. No one tells you how draining having a mental illness is. That you can be having the absolute best day of your life and then suddenly, you’re not and you’re sad and angry, but can’t articulate why. To be transparent, I experience depression and anxiety on a daily basis. I can count the days where I’ve woken up and have not felt that lingering cloud. They’re far and few. While it’s an obstacle, I don’t find it to be a complete burden. It is a part of me, but it is not me. If anything, it makes me more competent to tackle and achieve all the things that are set before me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So! I love this question because what 20 year old isn’t doing every and all the things under the sun!? As I mentioned in a previous question, I wear a lot of hats and I’m happy and proud to do so. What I’d love to focus on is me as a content creator.
I started content creation when I got to Los Angeles in 2018 but started taking it more seriously in 2019. I’ve been fortunate to work with bigger brands such as Victoria Secret Pink, Pop Zero, Third Love, and Cozy Earth, to name a few. I sort of fell into content creation. I’ve always loved photography and taking pictures and thought it’d be cool to give it a try and create more of an online presence for myself. I started turning me into a brand and I haven’t looked back since. My biggest goal when I started, that’s remained my focal point, is that I want the person everyone sees online to match the person I am in real life. It’s SO important to me that I remain honest, open, and silly because that’s who I am as a person! I’m a complete goof who loves life, fashion, and advocating for Mental Health Awareness. I go back and forth with themes a lot on my page, trying my best to cover all the things I find important and hold near to my heart. I think that’s the beauty of being a content creator–you create things that matter to you and find others who resonate.
As of 2021, I reached 10k followers on Instagram which is a huge accomplishment for me. With the way social media platforms are skyrocketing, that’s a small number compared to some, but hey! We have to start somewhere, right? I’ve expanded from Instagram to YouTube on a channel that’s called #ACheyMoment. I came up with the idea during Covid and thought it’d be fun to share more of my everyday life, thoughts, curiosities, etc. with the world. It’s still a growing channel, but I adore the work I do there and cannot wait to see where it takes me!
You should definitely subscribe 🙂
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Jump and Trust That You Will Fly. I live by this motto. I wrote a poem that says these exact words in my 4th poetry collection, Chapter 25. Life is SO SHORT. We all say it, but I don’t know if we really digest those words. If it’s on your heart, it is worth exploring. There are so many who are rooting for your downfall…YOU CANNOT be one of those humans. Take the risk. The worst thing you can be told is “no” and it doesn’t work out. But at least you can say you went for it and you did something that made you happy.
You got this, Sunchey. I promise you.
