Daily Inspiration: Meet Chloe Lind

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Lind.

Hi Chloe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
As a child, I questioned and challenged many things that were presented to me; however, the one thing I was always 100% certain was I was made to design. I owe much credit of my love for thrifting and reworking to my mom. Growing up, we weren’t able to necessarily treat ourselves, so she was able to fill my time with trips to every thrift store, yard sale, clothing store you could imagine so I could get a dose of my desires through window shopping. Going from one store to another opened my eyes to the limitless nature of design, especially up-cycling! My father on the other hand, inspired me directly through his incredible collection of vinyls and music (’50s – ’80s), that has only shown through my designs. Through the years, I’ve transitioned through many designs that I enjoyed but didn’t feel true to me! As I began reworking and up-cycling woven tapestry blankets and establishing Chloe Lind Customs, LLC, I began to regain the feeling of self and the ability to offer that to my customers as well!

This is dedicated to both my mom and dad, Patricia Ambrisco Lind and Richard Norman Lind RIP 💚 Thank you for giving me the gift of being myself!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Before I began CLC, I had spent about 5 years with a company and had moved into the highest local position, but it left me feeling entirely unsatisfied. I took the leap of faith, regardless of the advice of those around me, and put in my months’ notice without any backup plan. As you could imagine, there were definitely challenges in all aspects – financial, mental, emotional, etc.

Through building my company, I have learned that the challenges are the moments that push me forward and assist me in continuing to create the ultimate company I believe in. Every mistake, challenge, problem is an opportunity to learn! As a new business owner, there had and have been many challenges with production timeframe, efficiency, communication, etc. however, this is how we push ourselves forward and grow!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I pride myself on my one-of-a-kind designs and passion for not only fashion but the environment. Chloe Lind Custom’s is a company that was established on the core values of self-expression, freedom being conscious. Personally, I spend a lot of time outdoors in nature and would love to continue using my brand and company to promote more sustainability and environmental consciousness! I

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
As a kid, I was often referred to as “a ham.” I could pull up multiple photos to refer to this. I basically was a ball of energy with a loud mouth that enjoyed everything creative: dancing, gymnastics, singing, playing instruments, making skit videos, swimming, playing outside, and everything along the lines! It’s very clear through my childhood aesthetic, and design had played an important part for me. Between how my room looked, to my outfits for school, to even creating a digital fashion magazine – I felt the need to express! As I grew older, sewing had become a major passion, and combined with thrifting; I found my career in upcycling!
