Daily Inspiration: Meet Christine Leon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Leon.

Hi Christine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve ALWAYS wanted to be a wedding planner ALWAYS! I got my first exposure to the San Diego event industry back in 2012 when I decided to apply for an internship as a wedding planning assistant for a prestigious wedding planning company in La Jolla. I am so thankful for that opportunity. I was able to assist and shadow the event managers who I worked with. Every single detail and knowledge from the event managers was absorbed. I fell in love with the industry and I knew my dream job was attainable. Once I had my first son, it was time to plan his first birthday party and I was obsessed with every minute of the planning & creating all the details to make my vision come to life. I decided to start Little Sunshine Events back in 2013 as a side hustle, it was my baby! Unfortunately, after two years of creating LSE, my full-time job/career overpowered my side hustle and I decided to focus on my career in the construction industry instead. Although I had a very successful career as an electrical estimator in the construction industry, I never stopped thinking about my baby, Little Sunshine.

Aside from having a full-time career, I also helped my husband manage our business Armored Floors, a commercial floor care company. Here in San Diego. After successfully getting that business off the ground, I knew there was no reason why I couldn’t bring Little Sunshine back to life. My husband has been my biggest fan & supporter to chase my dreams and do what I love. LSE was officially registered as a business in 2019. This time around, I had a clear vision of what I wanted LSE to be and what I wanted it to look like. Slowly but surely, my client list started to grow and grow until I could no longer juggle a full-time career and two businesses so I took a leap of faith and quit my full-time job. It was the most rewarding decision I’ve ever made. Fast forward to now, the end of 2021, I can proudly say that LSE is thriving! We now have an office in Poway and offer our clients a one stop shop for all their party needs. We work with our clients to design and execute custom events as we believe that every event should be an artistic expression of the individual’s personal style. I look forward to expanding and growing each year. My vision and goals for LSE continue to grow and evolve with time and I can’t wait to show you all what the next few chapters hold.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No way! Starting a business is not easy, the long hours and financial investment alone are huge challenges. Juggling a schedule including two business, three kids and three dogs is not easy but knowing that I’m doing what I love for a living is the biggest reward. I wouldn’t change our hectic schedules for anything.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Little Sunshine Events specializes in event styling and decor. Our services include everything from event planning, event design, prop rentals, furniture rentals…etc. LSE exists to design and create unique & fun events. We work with our clients to bring their vision to life, creating events that are personalized, unique, and designed to represent them using the highest quality products in our industry. I am most proud of the results we are able to deliver to our clients. The most rewarding part is when clients tell me that I have creative freedom to design their events, they trust my imagination.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
My interpretation of luck is when preparation meets opportunity. There is no such thing as luck. I haven’t been “lucky” with any aspect of my business, I’ve worked hard to be prepared for any opportunities that arise.
