Today we’d like to introduce you to Denisse Cano.
Hi Denisse, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I carefully deliberated on the perfect gift for my mom, considering Mother’s Day and her graduation fell on the same day. I aimed to present a unique gift that had not been previously given to her. After thinking it over, I came to the realization that the two gifts enjoyed the most are flowers and a delightful beverage. What better way to gift them than to combine them together? After presenting the gift to my mom my aunt took me aside and expressed her belief that I should potentially transform this gift into a project. Acknowledging my creativity, she encouraged me to take action and explore the possibilities. Thus, my journey began. I started creating flower crowns atop ciders and commenced selling them during graduation seasons. One of my most cherished memories was when a parent purchased a bottled cider bouquet from me to gift his daughter who was graduating from Roosevelt Middle School. Witnessing the joy the young girl had as she showcased her special bottle to her family after the ceremony will forever remain etched in my brain. I understood at that moment that I possessed a broader vision. From that point onward, I resolved to delve deeper into creating diverse floral crown gifts, and ever since, I have remained steadfast in pursuing my passion with unwavering commitment.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a super fun and fulfilling journey, but like any eager entrepreneurial endeavor, it comes with challenges. I learned to take a challenge as an opportunity to learn something and humble myself at the same time. I face sourcing high-quality materials consistently, managing the logistics of production and distribution, and putting together a strong customer base. I am currently in the process of developing my ability to handle disappointment. Although I have not had a dissatisfied customer yet, I sometimes find myself feeling disappointed in myself, questioning whether I have done everything possible to meet a customer’s expectations. It’s still working progress because I have a lot of passion for this project.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a full-time student pursuing a degree in computer information systems. I have spent a good portion of my life working a 9-5 and believed it was time to go after a higher education. While I am currently engaged in pursuing my present goal, it is important to acknowledge my profound enthusiasm for the field of art photography. I take immense pride in my fine art pictures because each photo expresses a message, an idea, or an emotion. There is no need for context or a narrative. It just is what it is.
How do you think about luck?
I have been fortunate to have not run into any significant setbacks or unfortunate events during this period of my life and my business. While my business is still in its early stages word is spreading quickly, this is something I am very happy about. While acknowledging that luck is an inherent concept in everyday life, I would like to primarily express my deep appreciation for the love and encouragement I have received in my small pursuit. I am eternally grateful to my loved ones who are my #1 fans. Los quiero mucho.
