Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Eubanks.
Hi Taylor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved to LA when I was 18 years old from Washington State. Getting my hands on a pair of Technics and a Vestax PMC-05 Pro in 2009 obsessed with the battle scratch scene. Started out battle scratching and was quickly put on to Ableton. I cracked my first version of Ableton and all the plug-ins/samples I could possibly get my hands on in 2010. I started out making hip-hop beats and slowly evolved into dance music over the years. Meeting and working with all different producers and artists influenced an eclectic sound, never really sticking to one genre. After years of experimenting and finding my sound, I ultimately decided on launching “Dilate” as a techno project dabbling into the world of dub/bass and fusing these worlds together. I strive to influence people to be unique, diverse, experimental and never put yourself in a box. Let the creativity flow and let it take you.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Navigating in the world of music is no easy task. Balance is key. It’s really easy to overdue things especially living in LA. There are so many factors that have to be working on all cylinders to make a name for yourself in the music industry. Be yourself and don’t let people put you in a box. Your music defines you. You really gotta have that Kobe Bryant mentality out here.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am Producer, Mix Engineer, DJ/Turntablist, Photographer, and Digital Artist. I specialize in production at this point but I have had a journey with all of these things. I am proud of the fact that I took my time to find myself and realized that it’s ok to have different passions. You don’t have to just do one thing your entire life. Considering myself a multifaceted artist is one of my biggest strengths and that experience sets me apart from the crowd.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
San Diego is one of the funnest crowds to play for they always bring the energy!
