Today we’d like to introduce you to Dinorah Sanchez.
Hi Dinorah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
A few days ago, I had a really interesting realization: I noticed that my name is connected to something I’ve always been drawn to and that I’ve been professionally dedicated to for the past few years. My name, Dinorah, means “light” in Hebrew. And just like photography, light is essential to its very existence without light, there can be no photograph.
My professional journey has been a deeply meaningful experience in my life. It has given me the tools to better understand my purpose and, above all, to connect with that particular essence that lives within me. Having a creative career has allowed me to live more authentically and to remember that art is always a reflection of our inner world, often carrying a quiet intention to remind us to trust ourselves a little more.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path can be filled with beautiful landscapes, even when it’s not always easy to walk through. Every challenge we experience can become an opportunity to find inspiration and turn something difficult into something meaningful.
For a long time, I was someone who struggled to trust herself and truly believe in her own path. But through the challenges I’ve faced, I can honestly say that I’ve transformed and released parts of myself that were no longer serving me not just in one area of my life, but across the board. One of the most beautiful things about being a creative person is that your mind is constantly looking for inspiration. And I don’t mean that only in the context of being an artist, I mean it simply as a human being.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Right now, I’m beginning to take the next step in my creative work. I’m no longer only creating portraits or commercial photography; I’m expanding my practice through digital collage as well. My goal is to create a series of cards, each one accompanied by a personal reflection almost like a visual oracle. I want each card to become a small doorway into the inner world: a combination of imagery, symbolism, intuition, and words that invites whoever encounters it to pause, look inward, and perhaps recognize something within themselves.
The deck will be called Expressions of the Soul and will feature 33 unique reflections; each paired with an image specifically designed to bring its message to life. I’m already pretty close to finishing the digital version, but my intention is to eventually turn it into a physical deck as well. For now, you can get a little preview of the project over on my Instagram page!
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m really drawn to using symbolic elements in my collages, so if you’re also a creative (whether you’re a designer, photographer, illustrator, or anything in between) ’d love to collaborate and make a collage together!
I’d also really appreciate any guidance if you happen to know about the printing and product on process for books or oracle decks. I’d love to figure out how to bring this project into the physical world and not keep it purely digital.
