Diva Lomas

Hi Diva, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I am a celebrity stylist based in San Diego, California. I’ve been in the fashion industry for more than 15 years. First as a marketer and then as a Stylist. I moved to this country 2 years ago, and being honest, the cultural transition has been shocking. New languages, new traditions, and new challenges

In 2023, I finally successfully transitioned from a career in marketing to becoming a celebrity stylist. Given my extensive experience, both in marketing and styling, I likely bring a unique perspective to my work, and that is what my clients love.

Perhaps that, San Diego is a vibrant city with its own distinct fashion scene, and after two years, my background and skills have contributed significantly to the local industry.

This is why I am starting a side business called My Pipl Collective, an online shop that provides and promotes unique fashion for unique pipl in the country.

My Pipl is a curated fashion store with an impressive selection of Latino designers, and Pipl in the States loves it. Please visit www.mypiplcollective.com

If you have specific challenges or if there’s anything you’d like advice or information on related to your career, the fashion industry or adjusting to life in San Diego, feel free to ask. Whether it’s about building your network, staying updated on trends, or managing the business side of being a stylist, I’m here to help.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Cultural differences can indeed present significant challenges, especially when it comes to personal habits and approaches to work and life. The shift from a more spontaneous or flexible culture to one that values strict scheduling can be quite an adjustment.

If you are experience something similar, here are a few suggestions that might help you navigate these cultural differences:

Understanding Cultural Norms:

Take the time to understand the cultural norms in your new environment. This includes not just professional expectations but also daily life practices. Knowing what’s expected can help you adapt your approach accordingly.

Communication is Key:

Open communication is crucial. If you find yourself in situations where you feel your preferred approach differs from the norm, it might be helpful to communicate your perspective. Share your experiences and cultural background and be open to learning from others as well.

Networking and Building Relationships:

Building a network of like-minded individuals or those who appreciate diversity can be beneficial. Attend industry events, networking functions, and social gatherings where you can connect with people who share similar values or experiences.

Adaptation:

While it’s essential to stay true to yourself, some adaptation

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

How do you think about luck?
One word: FOCUS

“Focus” is a powerful word, and my advice is to concentrate on being the best in your field rather than seeking fame directly is valuable. Dedication to your craft, continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality work are key ingredients for long-term success in any profession, including the competitive world of fashion styling.

By maintaining a strong focus on your skills and the quality of your work, you naturally build a reputation for excellence. Genuine success often comes as a result of passion, dedication, and consistently delivering exceptional results rather than pursuing fame as the primary goal.
