Daily Inspiration: Meet Emma Nuñez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Nuñez

Hi Emma, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Starting my candle business was a journey of resilience and creativity, shaped by the challenges I faced as a deportee from the USA to Mexico. After being separated from my life in the U.S., I realized that I needed to rebuild not just my livelihood, but also my sense of purpose. I decided to channel my energy into something that would allow me to express myself while also providing a sustainable income.

With limited resources but a deep desire to create, I began researching the candle-making process. I spent countless hours learning about different waxes, scents, and techniques, often experimenting with small batches in my new home. The process became therapeutic, and soon I was creating candles that were not only beautiful but also reflected my journey and experiences.

Through my candle business, I aim to not only provide a product but also promote mindfulness and self-care. I believe in the power of fragrance to enhance well-being and create moments of peace amidst the chaos of everyday life. In a world where people are constantly busy and overwhelmed, I use my candles as a reminder to slow down, breathe, and focus on nurturing oneself. Each candle represents a small, intentional act of self-care—whether it’s lighting one during meditation, a quiet moment, or simply to unwind at the end of the day.

Lastly, my business has become known by selling locally, using word-of-mouth and social media to spread the word. Slowly, my business continues to grow as people connect with the unique story behind each candle. What began as a means of rebuilding my life transformed into a successful venture, and today, my candle business is a symbol of resilience, creativity, and new beginnings.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting this journey has been unlike any other, filled with struggles that continue to shape my path every day. Like many small business owners, I wear many hats—balancing the responsibilities of being a full-time mom, wife, and business owner, all while managing the behind-the-scenes work of Esencia + Armonía. Each day presents its own set of challenges, and there are times when it feels overwhelming to stay on top of everything. Yet, despite the constant juggling, I always find the motivation to keep pushing forward.

The daily grind is a constant reminder of the strength and resilience required to chase my dreams, but it’s the passion behind my candles and the belief in what they stand for that keeps me going. Through it all, I remind myself that every small step forward is progress, and that the struggles are part of what make the journey meaningful. My mission to inspire mindfulness and self-care in others like I do in myself through fragrance and daily rituals is what drives me to continue, even on the toughest days.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Since my arrival in Mexico after deportation, I shifted my professional career from Nursing field to becoming a Freelancer/Virtual Assistant, which has granted me the flexibility and independence I was seeking. This transition has allowed me to build a career that works around my lifestyle and responsibilities, especially as a mom and business owner. Before making this change, I studied Nursing, Business Management and Social Sciences, which provided me with a solid foundation to navigate the complexities of running my own business and interacting with others.

Even though I’m naturally an introvert, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for connecting with people and communicating effectively. My background has helped me build relationships with clients and customers, and I’ve found that I truly enjoy helping others and collaborating in ways that align with my values. This journey has shown me the power of adaptability and how the combination of my education and new career path can help me navigate challenges and continue growing—both personally and professionally.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My unconditional advice for anyone who wishes to start their own business is to: never wait for the perfect timing—just start.

We often fool ourselves into thinking we need to wait for the “perfect” moment, but the truth is, that time is now. Once you take the leap, understand that the entire journey will be a continuous learning process. You’ll be learning not just how to create a product, but how to launch, manage, and grow a business.

Every day will present new challenges and lessons, and you will gain new skills along the way. It’s important to embrace this learning curve and recognize that no step is wasted. Equally crucial is staying on top of your objectives. Set clear goals for your business, and revisit them regularly to ensure you’re staying on track. Stay flexible and open to adjusting your approach as you grow, but always keep your vision in mind. Building a business is not a straight line; it’s full of twists and turns, and each turn is an opportunity to learn and improve. Keep going, and remember that progress is made one step at a time.
