Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Sodeke.
Hi Emma, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the UK and qualified as a Bounce Instructor with Bouncefitbody in 2017. From the very first class, I knew this style of movement was special. It was joyful, effective, energy high and gave me something else other fitness classes didn’t. In 2019, I moved to the United States with a strong desire to keep teaching, even though Bouncefitbody hadn’t yet gone global. I wasn’t ready to let go of something I loved, so I made it work the only way I could. I started teaching in a local park in Carlsbad, setting up trampolines in the early mornings, and offering evening classes with beautiful sunsets. It was far from glamorous, to run the classes it was expensive, but it was filled with energy, laughter, and growing a group of people who kept showing up.
As much as I loved that chapter, I could see it wasn’t a long-term solution. Then one of these quiet, full circle moments happened. The owner of Therapy Social Fitness had noticed me teaching in the park while she was dropping her son off at soccer week after a week, she reached out and that connection changed everything.
Fast forward two years and I’ve been teaching out of her beautiful ocean site studio ever since. I’ve stepped away from Bouncefitbody and have gone on my own journey with my bounce trampolines now called BOUNCEBACK. This is where my heart is. What started as a dream carried across continents has become a community, a home, and a business rooted in movement, connection and joy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think that’s important to be honest about. Setting up a small business isn’t made easy here there’s a huge amount of paperwork, permits, and red tape, and the costs of using local spaces were far higher than expected. That alone forced me to pivot early and rethink how and where I could operate.
On top of that, I was introducing a completely new fitness concept to the area. Asking people to try something unfamiliar means asking for trust. Many people already have their fitness routines locked in, so I wasn’t just promoting classes, I was trying to create curiosity, confidence, and belief in something new.
That one moments where it felt like squeezing into an already full space, but those challenges taught me to be adaptable, resilient, and very clear on my purpose.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialise in choreograph HIIT rebounding classes that combine high energy, great music, and intentional movement. Alongside regular classes, I offer local pop-up events, business wellness lunch break sessions, and ((BOUNCE)) experiences for Girl Scout groups. I’m known for bringing consistent motivation and creating classes that feel fun but still challenge you. What sets me apart is that I’ve introduced the style of rebounding into this area, and I’m proud of building something that helps people feel strong, confident, and excited to move. And the dedication I show by bringing my own 14 trampolines to the class back-and-forth!! my goal is to make movement fun accessible and confidence building for every age and stage.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Successful for me, he’s creating a space where people feel strong, confident, and excited to move, while building something I’m proud of and can sustain long-term. It’s not about a trophy shelf for viral bike. For me, it’s the quieter, the deeper, the progression.
