Daily Inspiration: Meet Erica Jamison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Jamison.

Hi Erica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved hosting and all the thoughtful details that make a moment feel personal and memorable. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to finding beauty in the everyday—thrifting for unique vases and homeware to make even a simple meal feel special.

That love for creating ambiance naturally led me to flowers. I started experimenting with monochrome bunches from Trader Joe’s, learning to build bouquets just for fun. Over time, that hobby turned into a passion—I found myself designing florals for friends’ and family’s events: baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays, and more.

This past year, I became a mom, and that life shift made me reevaluate my path. I knew I wanted to be a role model for my daughter—not just in words, but in action. If I was going to teach her to believe in herself and follow her passions, I needed to do the same.

So I pivoted from corporate America and launched Isla Flor, a floral brand named after my daughter, who continues to be my biggest inspiration. Now, as a floral designer, I get to work with my hands, lean into creativity, and be part of the moments that matter most in people’s lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been challenges along the way. Choosing to be a stay-at-home mom while launching my own business was both a bold and intimidating decision. Finding my personal floral style took time and experimentation, and stepping into larger projects—like weddings—came with a steep learning curve.

But through it all, it’s been incredibly rewarding. As a self-described perfectionist, I’ve had to learn that growth doesn’t come from getting everything right the first time. The most valuable thing I can do for my business is to take action, learn from the process, and keep moving forward. Perfectionism can so easily hold you back—but progress only comes when you’re willing to begin.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in floral design for events of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations. My style leans toward less traditional arrangements—organic, expressive, and always beautiful. In addition to events, I love leading hands-on floral workshops that bring people together in a creative, engaging way.

Looking ahead, my goal is to partner with more brands on activations, product launches, and other experiential events that merge floral design with storytelling and community.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happiest is creating meaningful connections through flowers—whether it’s helping build community or being part of my clients’ most special life moments. On a personal level, I find so much joy in tapping into my creative side to craft arrangements that feel beautifully tailored and intentional. It’s a blend of purpose and passion that truly fulfills me.
