Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrett Mills.
Hi Garrett, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Garrett Mills, and some would call me a raging extrovert! I have a passion for serving people and cultivating an environment of joy! I am Saved by Grace through Christ sacrifice on the Cross! And that is where my Joy comes from! I started Garrett Mills Music this year to share that Joy with San Diego! I am Born and raised here in San Diego, so my heart belongs to the people here in my city! Whether we are celebrating a wedding and to new beginnings or celebration of life for a loved one who has passed away, I wanted to cultivate a warm environment for everyone through music. I have had the Honor of working with local schools, such as El Captain High School in Lakeside to the kick-or-treat event for AYSO Soccer. My passion is to get the people of San Diego Grooving!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest struggle was taking the leap to actually Start the company! For DJing, you need to invest in equipment before you can actually start DJing. For over a year, I wrestled with taking the leap and overcoming the fear of failure. Will I be able to be successful will people want me to be a DJ for their events. These were the human doubts I west led with until the beginning of this year when I took the leap to start the company and invest in the future of it. I have been blessed with a few events that have truly got me rolling. I am excited for any and all event that I am able to take on.

Being a DJ is more than playing music. It is bringing everyone together and celebrating diversity together as one through music. What sets me apart is the personal experience people receive. The engagement goes beyond the music. I want to bring out the best in people and see them get their groove on! No matter how old or young we all have the groove inside it doesn’t matter if you’re a good dancer or a bad dancer I cultivate everyone to feel the groove!
We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
Without risk, there is no reward. But not only that, risking taking is such an amazing growth opportunity. Whether you succeed or fail taking the risk is worth it! You learn new things about yourself. You stretch yourself, and you get uncomfortable. It is so good to be uncomfortable! To challenge the fear of unknown. The only way we can learn more about ourselves is to take risks! You hardly hear stories of people who played it safe and created their own business or art. Risk-taking is life-giving!
