Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out it was a smooth road because I was just learning and I was like a sponge willing to absorb everything now it’s a little bit tougher for me because I’m older and I’m sort of starting over or creating a new name for myself in Chicago..
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
“I am a San Diego-based filmmaker, editor, and visual artist dedicated to high-caliber storytelling through my production company, The Cinema Standard. With a foundation built on the discipline of the U.S. Marines and the resilience of a Chicago upbringing, I specialize in a polished, cinematic aesthetic that bridges the gap between independent narrative film and commercial brand storytelling. I am widely recognized for my commitment to the local creative community, having served as a producer for the 2019 San Diego Film Awards and captured the city’s authentic pulse through the San Diego Unveiled series.
Beyond my work behind the lens, a definitive highlight of my career has been the time I spent traveling throughout San Diego teaching children the art of filmmaking. Empowering the next generation to find their voices and master the craft of creation is a contribution I am deeply proud of. What sets me apart is this unique blend of military-grade precision and a community-focused heart. By acting as my own Director of Photography and editor, I bring a ‘one-man-army’ technical skill set to every project, ensuring that I not only meet the highest production standards but also honor the unique energy of the people and stories that make our creative culture so distinct.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I want to give a special shout-out to the people who have been instrumental in this journey and the growth of our local film scene. Working alongside and learning from innovators like Jodi Cilley, Joe Castano, Sue Vicory, David Dawson, Eddie Lane, the legendary Bob Gardner, and Fale Lewis of Tonight in San Diego has been a privilege. The list goes on, and their dedication continues to be a massive source of inspiration. Additionally, I want to send a super very special thanks to the cast and crew of San Diego Unveiled; your hard work and talent were the engine behind that project, and I am incredibly proud of what we built together.
