Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Jeanette Martinez.
Hi Linda Jeanette , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello. My name is Linda Jeanette Martinez. I am an ordained minister of the gospel for 25 years. My journey started through Rev. David Wilkerson, Founder of Time Square Church, and Teen Challenge. I accepted the Lord as my personal savior through his book,” The Cross and the Switchblade” and later visited his church in N.Y. I met with him a couple of times, then found a church closer to my residence. I later began working for Rev. Ana Villafane founder of Way-Out Church Ministeries in the Bronx for 20 years as her bookkeeper, secretary, intake coordinator and later ordained under her ministry as a minister of the gospel.
In 2017, I became a Chaplain, and I started to live a consecrated life, and began to testify of my past and how the Lord broke many chains in my life. I was approached by many people and encouraged to write a book about my life. That opened the door for me to become an author. My first book, “Without Fault”, is about the trauma I endured as a child through sexual molestation and neglect. My 2nd book, “Moments With Yah – My Year of Consecration” is about the year I spent in consecration to the Lord and my deliverance from the trauma, pain and rejection. My 3rd book, “Consider the Lilies – Faith Walks is an anthology with 8 women from my Bible study group. My 4th book will be here soon. It will be my 1st devotional book called, “Moments With Lin – 50 Devotionals Celebrating life”.
Today, my husband, Pastor Amadi Martinez, and I, are the founders of “SonRise International”. It is an evangelistic ministry and a ministry of helps for the homeless community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles we faced was getting permission from town officials to distribute food in the streets and a permit for a sound system, but after months of prayer and proving to the town we were able to do so. We were also recognized in the city of fitchburg as one of the city’s sponsors to the shelters of the state of Massachusetts.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The work that we do in SonRise Ministry, my husband and I visit local shelters, and we provide basic needs. Toiletries for adults, diapers and formula for babies and last year we had a “Going Back To School Bookbag Drive”, where we gave school age children bookbags and supplies donated by sponsors of our ministry, Sometimes, we are allowed to pray and have Bible studies. At my secular job, the Lord permitted me to have a monthly Bible study at my job at a rehabilitation center in Austin, Texas.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I really do not believe in luck but I do believe that everything good that has happened in my life was because God permitted it. The bad stuff that has happened, helped shape me to become wiser. Every time I failed, I learned how to get back up.
