Daily Inspiration: Meet Maria Christina Salazar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Christina Salazar.

Hi Maria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up playing sports and having a very active lifestyle growing up. I became more health-conscious in high school and college and from there I knew my passion/career would remain in the health and fitness industry. I went to school for nutrition and massage therapy, then added personal training a couple years after that. I currently train clients and members at Journey Fitness in Baldwin Park, as well as online/virtual clients. I always knew I was meant to serve others as a career, and I found it through personal training.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have definitely been some obstacles along the way. To be absolutely honest the biggest obstacle for me was my mindset. I was constantly battling with my negative thoughts. I had a fear of not succeeding because I didn’t fit the mold and appearance of a personal trainer. I also had a fear of succeeding and not being able to handle the pressure of keeping up. I really had to work on my mindset and understanding that what God has called you to do, nothing is able to stop but you. So, I had to break out of that fear through prayer, scripture, and personal development books/webinars.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a personal trainer and I specialize in strength training, weight loss, body composition, and bodybuilding. Working out is a form of self-love and it’s always an honor for me to have the opportunity to help other women develop self-love and worth through working out. It’s a privilege to move your body not a punishment and I help women understand not to take that for granted.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Playing travel ball tournaments, going to other cities with my friends to play 3-4 games a day on the weekends.
