Daily Inspiration: Meet Michelle Mihaly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Mihaly .

Michelle Mihaly

Hi Michelle Mihaly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Mihaly Meadows was lovingly created by Michelle Mihaly. I am a special education teacher and needed a creative outlet during Covid while teaching virtually. I have always been creative and when I started soap making, I was hooked. It is a way for me to create something that is useful and brings joy to others. I think of it as my therapy, concentrating on recipes and the process quiets my brain.
This just started as a hobby to create beautiful skin loving products, that soon turned into a small business that fills me with pride and joy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been so many blessings and challenges throughout the years. I get so excited to challenge myself with new products, and some just don’t work out. It’s all part of the process and I learn from each mistake. There have been batches that I have had to toss, but I get so much excitement when a products turns out exactly how I imagined it. It is also a struggle to balance family, my full time job as a teacher, and growing my business. I am getting better at planning ahead stocking up for when I am busier during the holidays.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most known for my cold processed soaps. I use high quality ingredients that create hard, long lasting bars that nourish your skin. I love creating beautiful designs with colors and different textures on the top. I next ventured into body products, usually starting from my own needs but also from the request of others. My body oils, face oils, lotions and salves have become really popular. My sister in law is a huge supporter of my business. She asked for me to create a magnesium cream and it has become one of my best sellers.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Lesson I have learned: mistakes help you grow, push yourself to always do your best, and to get outside of your comfort zone. I had to push myself to start doing markets. I knew I had to get my products out there so people could pick up and smell the soaps. They needed to sample my creams and oils. Socializing is an area where I can get anxious, but doing markets has been the best thing for my business. I love meeting new people and seeing returning customers. It helps for people to get to know you and your products. That has been a challenge for me, but I get a great sense of pride when people appreciate what I have created.
