Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Harrell.
Hi Molly , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my career as a professional model at 15, working with prestigious agencies including Ford Models and Elite Models. After earning a BA in Art History and Retail from the University of Arizona, I transitioned to talent representation, working as a modeling and talent agent with experience in fashion shows and PR. Following a career break to focus on parenting, I launched Coastal Elitist as a passion project, drawing from my deep industry knowledge and artistic background. The brand is inspired by my love of coastal Southern California.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s challenging for new, small companies right now. The rising costs of everything from the fabrics, printing and even packaging is a uphill battle but there have been a lot of highs and fun along the way!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
California’s natural beauty and relaxed sophistication have always been my greatest inspiration. After years in the fashion industry, I recognized a need for clothing that feels as comfortable as it is stylish—apparel that complements the California dream without compromising on quality or elegance. San Diego has this laid-back luxury that has always been attractive to me.
My San Diego-based brand offers high-quality, comfortable apparel and accessories inspired by the region’s coastal elegance and laid-back luxury. Coastal Elitist’s debut collection embodies the brand’s philosophy that “Everyday is a Vacation” because we are so spoiled living in Southern California.
I wanted to create a line that can transition seamlessly from tennis courts to yacht clubs to beachside lounges.
How do you think about happiness?
My happiness is a day at the beach with my family, a sunny day on the water, date night with my husband, Austin, playing tennis, a girls’ night full of laughter, spending time with my dogs, and a tequila blanco with soda water and a splash of pineapple juice!
