Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Bistric
Hi Nicole, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
ImagiDough started as a passion project inspired by my personal journey as a mom to a child with sensory sensitivities. I saw firsthand how important it was to have sensory tools that were not only safe but also engaging and beneficial for development. With my background in education, I recognized an opportunity to create something that blended fun with learning—something that would support kids in their sensory exploration while also being a valuable resource for parents, teachers, and therapists.
What began as a way to help my own child quickly grew into something bigger. I realized there was a real need for high-quality, non-toxic sensory play products that encourage creativity, fine motor development, and problem-solving. So, I poured my knowledge and passion into developing ImagiDough—a brand dedicated to giving kids a space to play, explore, and grow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road—starting and growing ImagiDough has come with its fair share of challenges. In the beginning, there was a steep learning curve, from perfecting the dough recipe to figuring out the logistics of running a small business. Balancing production, marketing, and sales while also being a mom was overwhelming at times.
One of the biggest struggles has been juggling business responsibilities while still being present for my family. Working from home means constantly switching between roles—one moment I’m making dough or packing orders, and the next, I’m chasing after my toddler or handling everyday mom duties. Finding time to grow the business while prioritizing my family has been a challenge, but I’ve learned to embrace the ebb and flow.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m the founder of ImagiDough, a brand dedicated to creating high-quality, non-toxic sensory play products that encourage creativity, fine motor development, and hands-on learning. I specialize in making themed sensory dough jars, sensory bin fillers, and interactive play kits designed to support kids in their sensory exploration. My background in education allows me to craft products that are not just fun but also beneficial for skill-building, making them a great resource for parents, teachers, and therapists.
What I’m most proud of is how ImagiDough has grown from a personal passion project into something that’s helping so many families. Hearing from parents and educators about how my products have made a difference—whether it’s calming an anxious child, supporting sensory needs, or simply creating joyful play moments—reminds me why I started this journey.
What sets ImagiDough apart is the thoughtfulness behind each product. Every dough jar and sensory kit is designed with both play and development in mind. I also prioritize high-quality ingredients and handmade craftsmanship, ensuring that each item is safe, long-lasting, and engaging. But beyond the products themselves, ImagiDough is about connection—helping kids engage their senses, express creativity, and experience the magic of open-ended play.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe adaptability has been the most important quality in my success. Running a business—especially one that involves both creativity and hands-on production—requires constant learning and adjusting. Whether it’s refining my products, navigating social media trends, balancing work and home life, or responding to customer feedback, being able to pivot and grow has been key.
