Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Schloss.
Hi Paula, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a native San Diegan, I have great love and passion for my city. I have lived in San Diego all of my life, with the exception of my college years during which I attended USC in Los Angeles. There is just no place like San Diego, with it’s laid-back coastal charm and the exciting culinary world that has been getting increasingly more and well-deserved attention. (So exciting to finally have multiple Michelin starred restaurants in SD!)
My boyfriend and I are major foodies and love to be the first to try all the new eateries in San Diego. Before I started Three Day Wknd, my friends, coworkers and family members would always ask me for recommendations on where to go and what to eat. Then suddenly it dawned on me that I should be sharing this online so that others can enjoy the best of San Diego too!
In addition to providing people with recommendations, I truly love connecting with local business owners, chefs, bakers, baristas, bartenders and the like. Learning their stories, how they got there and what the invision for their businesses is so much fun.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t necessarily experience challenges, but gaining an online following takes a lot of consistency and patience. I am still trying to grow my account and ensure I am producing valuable content that people want to read.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
When I’m not working my nine-to-five job in software, you can find me trying the newest eateries, exploring local coffee shops, or enjoying San Diego happenings. Think of me as your personal tour guide for San Diego! I make it a point to be at restaurants on opening night so that I can share my experience with others and support local businesses.
I always provide honest (but respectful) reviews, especially when it comes to food. I’m here to try out everything in San Diego, and weed out the good from the bad, so that you don’t have to spend your time doing it! I think being candid is something that is severely lacking in social media. I only post about things I truly love and want others to support.
Also, I’m extremely responsive and love to help people plan what to do in San Diego. I get a lot of direct messages where people ask me to help them put together a weekend itinerary or birthday dinner etc. It’s just so fun for me!
In addition to my San Diego recommendations, I travel a good amount every year and love to share my itineraries with others on Instagram or on my website, Threedaywknd.com.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Posting valuable content that people want to see. High-quality photos, posting consistently and often. I have to continuously ask myself “are my followers getting value out of my page?”
Like I mentioned previously, being honest about what I like and dislike so people feel they can trust my reviews.
