Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Kheya
Renee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born into the cosmetology business, I was surrounded by the art of beauty from the very beginning—my father was a salon owner and hairdresser, so you could say it was in my blood. Growing up in the industry, I was always fascinated by the transformations, the fashion, the glamour, and, most importantly, how it all made people feel!
At 18, I began my journey as a makeup artist, working at designer department stores and prestigious makeup counters like Chanel, Dior, and Marc Jacobs. I quickly excelled in the retail cosmetics business, learning the tips of the trade and absorbing valuable product knowledge from multiple brands. I eventually became a cosmetics manager. While I thrived in that environment, I realized I wanted to take my passion for beauty to the next level.
Determined to expand my skill set after a decade in cosmetic retail sales, I enrolled in cosmetology school, graduated with flying colors, and built a thriving clientele. Along the way, I’ve had the honor of being sponsored to demonstrate my craft at hair shows and have done makeup for fashion shows. My work as a bridal specialist has also allowed me to travel frequently for destination weddings, combining my love for beauty with adventure.
Today, I wear many hats. As a master stylist, I serve as an educator, training newly licensed cosmetologists to succeed as assistants. I’m also a bridal specialist, skilled in both hair and makeup, and continue to work behind the chair as a small business owner, serving my everyday clients.
This journey has been incredible, but I know the best is yet to come!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, there have definitely been struggles along the way. As an independent single woman facing medical issues and financial hardships, I had to work two jobs to put myself through cosmetology school. It wasn’t easy—I faced many trials and tribulations just to get through it.
But I believed in my skillset and knew I had something special to offer. That belief drove me to push through, even during the toughest times. My hard work paid off, and it ended up being the best decision I ever made. In fact, during school, everyone recognized my talent, and I was often seen as one of the best in my class.
After graduating, I put myself out there to build a clientele. Through the recognition I earned and the unwavering support of my clients, I was able to grow my career. I truly couldn’t have done it without my incredible clients who have supported me every step of the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve been fortunate to build a career that allows me to express my creativity while empowering others through beauty. I specialize in both hair and makeup artistry, with a focus on bridal styling, editorial work, and educating newly licensed cosmetologists. Over the years, I’ve worked with a diverse clientele, styling thousands of faces from all walks of life. My work has taken me to incredible places, and I’ve had the privilege of styling reality TV stars, working on the set of Fox 5 News, collaborating with celebrities, and partnering with elite wedding coordinators to create unforgettable looks for brides.
One of my proudest accomplishments is the launch of my website, TheFacesByRenee.com, and my Instagram page, @FacesByRenee, which showcase the range of my work. These platforms have allowed me to reach new clients and share my passion with a wider audience. I’m also proud of my ability to connect with people on a personal level—helping them feel confident and beautiful is what drives me.
What sets me apart from others is my versatility and experience. I’ve worked in various facets of the industry, from retail cosmetics to bridal artistry, fashion shows, and even educating aspiring cosmetologists. I’ve cultivated a skill set that not only focuses on the technical side of beauty but also on understanding my clients’ individual needs and the emotions behind their transformations.
Through every challenge, I’ve remained committed to growing as an artist and business owner. The support of my clients and collaborators has been instrumental in my success, and I’m so grateful for the relationships I’ve built along the way. Each project—whether it’s styling an elite bride for her big day or creating flawless looks for a high-profile event—is an opportunity to make an impact, and that’s what I love most about what I do.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is my clients’ happiness. Seeing their confidence and joy after a transformation is the most rewarding part of what I do. My goal is to not only meet but exceed their expectations, whether it’s creating the perfect bridal look, styling for a special event, or enhancing their everyday beauty. Their trust and support have been the foundation of my career, and I’m deeply grateful for it.
Beyond that, I’m passionate about growing more successful every day by doing what I love and continuously improving my craft. But it doesn’t stop there—I believe in sharing my knowledge and helping others succeed too. As an educator, I love mentoring newly licensed cosmetologists and showing them the path to thrive in this industry. Watching them grow and achieve their goals is just as fulfilling as my own success.
At the heart of it all is the passion for making people feel their best and inspiring others to follow their dreams.
