Daily Inspiration: Meet Rojhen Karim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rojhen Karim.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Rojhen Karim, I am a 21 year old Kurdish entrepreneur who grew up in San Diego. I started of with doing lashes at 16 and went into esthetician school right out of high school and knew I wanted to work with skin. My journey started because of my struggles with my own skin. I knew that if I could solve my own skin issues, I could help so many others. What started off as a small hobby turned into a flourishing dream. I am perusing a career in nursing to be able to bring more advanced treatments into my practice to help people with all types of skin care concerns.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
at first it seemed importable to start my own business right out of high school. My passion for what I do kept me going and I knew that I loved what I did and needed to do it on a bigger scale. It was hard being enrolled in college full time and starting my business, but everything paid off and I have learned so much as a solo esthetician. I thought at first that people would not take me seriously since I was so young and had so much to learn, but my drive to learn more everyday got me to my goals.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In my business, Lilac Esthetics, I focus on lashes, skincare and brows. I am known for my lash extensions and my acne treatments. I am definitely most proud of my acne transformations. It isn’t. Just giving someone a facial, it’s changing their lives. I watch people’s confidence grow every day and see them start to glow, literally. What sets me apart from others is my drive to keep learning and educating myself on new techniques and ways to do my job better. I get to know my clients life styles and goals and make a plan to get them there. I don’t consider what I do strictly work, I consider it an art. From lashes to facials to brows.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I love to read and play tennis on my free time. Whenever I have a moment to myself, I pick up a good romance book. I have always loved reading and have considered writing one day along with public speaking.
