Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Warner.
Hi Scott, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
We began our journey in 2014 with the planting of one acre each of Chardonnay, Cab Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah vines with the goal to develop a zero-carbon, organic, regenerative wines of the utmost purity and quality.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The challenges have been as diverse as they have been numerous, but frankly that is what makes farming and agriculture so much fun. Every day the work is different, and we spend some part of each day being amazed by the awesomeness of nature.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our winemaking is driven by our passion for improving our craft through continuous experimentation to produce single varietals that capture the character of San Diego in every bottle. Many of our wines are aged for two-plus years in heavily charred American oak bourbon barrels. Our wines are known as being very smooth with low tannins, a complex flavor profile, and always a clean finish.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
As the hidden gem of San Diego, the Ramona Valley vineyards and wineries are a living testament that small agricultural farms are still viable in America. Every producer here is a craft wine creator with a unique style. As the word spreads through our county and beyond of the forty-plus tasting rooms here, Ramona as a destination for wine lovers and families looking to enjoy nature’s bounty should continue to grow.
