Daily Inspiration: Meet Shane Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Jones.

Hi Shane, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started as a kid from Florida just pursuing his dream of becoming a professional soccer player and getting opportunities along the way to on going to inspire others. My first big opportunity was to play soccer on scholarship at Southeastern University, a Christian College in Lakeland, Florida. After becoming an All-American I was able to pursue the next level and play pro up in Pennsylvania. I ended up getting hurt so I turned more towards fitness and wellness. I always knew I was called to Southern California to impact the fitness industry in a positive way. After moving from a small town just north of Tampa 8 short years ago, I got my foot in the door at a few smaller gyms in the Temecula. After getting some experience outside of my sports background, I was introduced to an opportunity to be a full-time trainer at a private gym in Rancho Bernardo called Central Plant Club. There are few moments in life where you feel you are on the right path and in the right place and this was one of them. After one year of building relationships and building my schedule with amazing clients, I was presented with the opportunity to become the Fitness Manager. I gladly and enthusiastically took the position. I thrive in leadership positions and gain so much energy from helping others succeed and reach their full potential in whatever season of life they may be in. Fast forward a few years, I take over as General Manager and I am working everyday to build and keep a culture of growth and positivity along with inspiring others to live their healthiest most fit life while also being the best example to those around them.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I like to think that is has been a smooth road to get to where I am today but there has been so many speed bumps and curves in the road that did not let me see which direction I was supposed to be going. One of the main struggles has been self-doubt. I looked at certain people in the fitness industry and did my best to emulate them and inspire me but it just kept feeling like I wasn’t moving at the right speed to get to where I want to be in life. The moment things started to change, and they are still changing to this day, was when I doubled down on my personal growth and development. That meant, following through with promises that I made to myself and actually applying the success principles that I was learning and seeing through book and even the people I was listening to. Another main struggle was finding the right association. Moving to a state that I did not really know anyone made it difficult for myself to get into the right circles of influence. Once I gained the confidence after keeping those promises to myself, I was able to confidently put myself into situations where I new I should be and could really thrive and grow even more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the General Manager at Central Plant Club in Rancho Bernardo. It is a private corporate gym and wellness facility for the tenants on our property. We are known for our world-class facility and personal trainers but our members would tell you we are known for our positive culture and customer-service. I am most proud of how we as a team, make every member better in some way shape or form. The feedback we get from members on how they love coming in and have never seen a gym like this before really makes me want to keep working harder. I wish everyone could come and experience what we have at Central Plant Club.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I am going to have to share two lessons here. The first one is more personal, but you can’t be successful without it. Along the way I have learned that making personal growth and development a priority in your life will allow everything that is meant for you to fall into place. Timing is a factor, but if you develop yourself to a certain level and an opportunity comes along, you can take it!
Second, in business, especially this business, I have learned that you need to take your time hiring and doing your due diligence in getting to know the candidate and their references because the wrong person could set you back or even ruin your entire reputation and your momentum.
