Hi Tammy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Tammy Rydahl, owner of Simple Organization. My business began as a side hustle while I worked full time at a local Interior Design firm. I spent 11 years in the Interior Design world so the transition to organizing with style was an easy one for me to make. Fast forward 3 years to 2020. During the pandemic the firm was forced to close for a time leaving many of us without work. I was in the midst of transitioning out to begin working my business full time, so it was the perfect time to branch out on my own and go for it! I am happy to say I have never looked back. My schedule is booked every day with wonderful clients looking for organization in their lives!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my own business during Covid has come with a unique challenge. Growing too fast is the hurdle I am faced with at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, I am certainly not complaining! It’s a challenge I will happily rise to meet!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Simple Organization is a full service organizing company! We organize any and all spaces! Our favorite spaces are closets and pantries! More and more organizing companies are beginning to open as everyone jumps on board the trend of organization but what sets my company apart from others is the interior styling that I do along with the organization. I use a bit of my background in interior design to create beautiful and organized spaces! I put a lot of thought and design into each space I create and no 2 spaces are ever the same!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I connect with so many entrepreneurs on social media who reach out about starting their own organizing business and I love to get on calls with them and share what I know about the business and what I have learned along the way. I tell all of them that this is a fabulous, rewarding profession. Most are nervous just to begin (and I was to) but I learned after I got started that I just had to do it, things seem to fall into place. Do good work, be kind and reliable and the rest will take care of itself.
When I began I wish I had all of the answers. I was soooo green. Had to learn it all on my own. The industry was not what it is today and there were very few of us out there. I had a lot of trial and error but I am proud of what I have learned and where it has taken me in the growth of my company.
