Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Skoletsky
Hi Taylor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in fashion and digital creation has spanned over a decade, yet in many ways, it feels like I came into this world already knowing my passion. Growing up on the East Coast, I’d bring my sisters and friends together for living room fashion shows, dressing them up for their runway moments. That early love for styling only deepened as I became a competitive dancer. Each costume was designed to compliment the music, dance and dancer which is where I learned the power of movement and the expressive potential of blending beauty with style. This sparked a lifelong drive for self-expression that I couldn’t ignore.
At 19, I moved across the country to Los Angeles, determined to pursue my dreams in modeling and acting. I attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where I earned a certificate in on-camera acting and quickly signed with an agency. As I immersed myself in the creative world I discovered that although I enjoyed being in front of the camera, my true passion and calling was in the art and innovation of fashion and style itself. This realization led me to explore diverse creative paths within digital creation and the fashion industry, where I could bring style and storytelling to life.
My experience in digital creation opened my eyes to the art of storytelling through style. Working with brands like Prada, Viktor&Rolf, Armani Beauty, and Larroude Shoes reinforced my belief that fashion goes beyond the material; it’s a powerful form of self-expression and empowerment. This journey naturally led me into personal styling, beginning in retail and eventually building my own business. Today, I’m dedicated to helping clients see fashion as a transformative tool to celebrate their individuality and feel confident in every part of their life.
Whether styling fellow entrepreneurs, corporate professionals, new moms, or collaborating on photoshoots, I see styling as a way to tell each person’s unique story. My focus is on helping clients craft a style that truly resonates with their essence—whether by using existing wardrobe pieces or introducing carefully chosen additions that elevate their look. To me, styling is a partnership in self-expression, and I’m passionate about working with brands and individuals who view fashion as a journey of self-discovery and empowerment!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any journey, mine hasn’t been without its challenges and truthfully I’m still on my way! One of the biggest challenges has been resisting the pressure to follow the conventional path and staying true to what felt right for me. At 19, I moved 2,000 miles away from everything familiar to me to pursue my dreams. Many people didn’t understand why I chose not to stay at university like most of my friends. What they didn’t know was that moving to LA was part of an agreement with my parents; I was balancing college classes and a part-time job while pursuing my passion.
There were countless moments when I questioned my choices, wondering if a more traditional route might be easier. Putting myself out there personally and artistically was difficult and I often felt that conforming to what was “expected” of me would simplify things. Yet, every time I tried to fit into a mold I felt like I was giving up on myself and my passion. My Saturn return became a major turning point, encouraging me to stay on the path I began when I was young, despite any external pressures. Now, when fear-based thoughts arise, I ask myself if they’re moving me closer to my goals (or if you’ve read Ask and It Is Given… if they’re getting me closer to ‘San Diego’ – lol). Usually, the scary step forward is exactly what is needed to grow, so I take it without looking back.
I’m incredibly grateful for my support system and the mindset tools like meditation and breathwork I learned throughout my journey. Over time, I’ve realized my purpose is to share self-expression through fashion and beauty, empowering individuals to embrace their uniqueness while building their personal confidence and meaningful connections. Living in true self-expression has attracted the people and opportunities I’ve always dreamed of.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work centers on two key areas: Personal Styling and Editorial Styling. As a Personal Stylist, I help clients elevate their wardrobes and express their individuality. During my styling sessions, I conduct closet edits to decide what to keep or donate and create fresh looks from existing pieces. I also offer personal shopping and occasion styling, ensuring clients feel confident for casual gatherings, vacations, or formal events. I’m known for my ability to make fashion feel accessible and empowering, and I believe that when you feel fabulous in what you wear, you are giving back to yourself.
On the Editorial Styling side, which is where my career focus is shifting, I collaborate with photographers and personal brands to bring their creative visions to life. I’m most proud of my recent editorial styling projects, where I worked closely with teams to shape the direction of campaigns, ensuring every detail aligns with the intended story. These collaborations have allowed me to fully express my passion for style as an art form.
What sets me apart is my unique blend of experiences. My background in modeling allows me to approach styling from both behind and in front of the camera, giving me an edge when it comes to understanding how to select pieces that photograph well and guide clients during photoshoots. Whether in personal or editorial styling, my goal is to empower people and bring a sense of movement, authenticity, and confidence to every project. I’m passionate about telling stories through fashion and collaborating with creatives who share this vision.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice to those just starting is to literally just start… there is never going to be a more perfect time than now! Send that email, reach out and ask for advice, share your creations, and keep creating. If your mind, body, and soul are telling you what you love to do and you can’t stop thinking about the what-ifs, go for it! If you receive any pushback from those around you, know that sometimes, when you’re doing what you love and living in alignment, some might not get it. Surround yourself with those who do get it, because when you’re living your truth, you’ll attract the ones who inspire, uplift, and motivate you!
