Today we’d like to introduce you to Unkle Andy and the F Around Gang.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We started as a bunch of snowboarders on Mt. Hood, Oregon, and found a common love for punk rock and metal. We would spend most of our time, when not riding, hanging out, and playing random instruments together while drinking tons of beer. After playing some loose bar shows and writing actual material, we buckled down and recorded our debut LP, “Moist.” We only had 2 days in the studio, live tracking everything but vocals. After getting the album together, we quickly became part of the No Pants Records family in Portland, Oregon, and things began taking off a bit. Label owner, Matt Danger, helped get our Big-O California tour set up and managed the whole thing.
Getting to play up and down the west coast was fantastic! We met such killer people and had some wild nights. Our San Diego show was at The Tower Bar with label mates, The Rough. Can’t say enough great things about that bar, especially the bartender Bones; what a kickass guy!
As of right now, we are playing all over the Pacific Northwest and getting ready to record some new material. This is just the beginning, and we want everyone to be a part of this journey with us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Hell ya, we like to keep things fun no matter what happens! Of course, there are minor bumps, but it’s how you deal with them that makes you a better, closer band. Like when you get trench foot in the van, put some gold bond on, haha.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We play loud, fast, and heavy rock n roll. We specialize in keeping the masses moist, known for our wild antics, and like to keep a modest amount of chaos in the melting pot. Honestly, we’re the most proud of our mountain community on Mt. Hood, OR. If you’re ever up there for one of our shows, you’d know why. This is also what sets us apart. We are a bunch of derelict snowboarders that love the atmosphere and community that the mountain brings. If it weren’t for that, we wouldn’t be doing this interview.
Any big plans?
Future plans are to keep pumping out new music, making all the friends we can, and blasting the roof off every venue we play. All of these are big changes because we have no ceiling right now. We’re just looking forward to all the fantastic experiences and people in store for this journey.
