Dr. Brielle Salamone of Mission Valley on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr. Brielle Salamone. Check out our conversation below.

Brielle, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
I’ve been surprised by how many people are looking for a natural alternative to injectables but didn’t realize one existed. A lot of my clients are very wellness-focused and just want options that align with their values without sacrificing results.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Dr. Brielle Salamone, a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and the founder of The Rejuv Room in San Diego. My journey into holistic beauty actually began through my own skin. Like so many women, I was searching for answers beyond quick fixes and harsh treatments, and that curiosity eventually led me to Traditional Chinese Medicine and a completely different way of understanding the body, aging, and beauty.

As I immersed myself in Chinese medicine, I realized how disconnected the mainstream beauty industry felt from the values so many women actually hold. I kept meeting people who were diligent about their health, they read ingredient labels, prioritize wellness, and care deeply about what they put in and on their bodies, yet felt like injectables were the only option if they wanted to age well. That disconnect is what inspired me to create The Rejuv Room.

The Rejuv Room is a holistic beauty studio rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, specializing in cosmetic acupuncture and integrative facial treatments that support the skin from the inside out. Instead of chasing perfection or trying to stop time, we focus on circulation, balance, and long-term skin health. My goal was to create a space where women don’t have to compromise their values to feel confident, radiant, and supported as they age.

What makes The Rejuv Room special is that it’s not just about treatments, it’s about ritual, education, and community. Right now, I’m focused on expanding this model of holistic beauty, continuing to educate women about natural alternatives in aesthetics, and building a space that feels both elevated and deeply aligned with how we want to live and age.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship I have with my parents. They always made me feel supported and capable, and from a young age I grew up with the belief that if I put my mind to something, I could figure it out. That sense of trust, knowing I was encouraged to explore, take risks, and follow what genuinely interested me, gave me a lot of confidence in who I am and how I move through the world.

Having that foundation made it easier for me to pursue a path that wasn’t always linear or conventional. Whether it was changing directions, starting my own business, or building something from scratch, I always felt supported rather than questioned. That belief in me has shaped how I show up today, with curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to bet on myself.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Perfectionism has been a defining wound for me. I tied my self-worth to achievement for a long time, which created a constant feeling of never being enough. Healing has come from slowing down, reconnecting with myself, and learning to value alignment and growth over perfection.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
In the beauty industry there’s a belief that visible results have to come from force, freezing, filling, stripping, or overriding the body, rather than working with it. That mindset often ignores the long-term consequences of inflammation, tissue integrity, and overall skin health in favor of short-term wins.

Another lie is that aging is a problem to be solved instead of a natural process to be supported. When beauty is framed as something to fight against, it creates fear and urgency rather than confidence. I think that’s why so many people feel pressured into choices that don’t fully align with their values.

What I’ve learned through Chinese medicine is that real beauty is rooted in balance, circulation, and consistency. When the industry slows down and respects the body’s intelligence, the results may be subtler at first, but they’re far more sustainable and empowering in the long run.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I’ve experienced excitement in my career before, but nothing quite like this. Earlier roles and milestones brought moments of pride or validation, but they were often tied to external measures of success. What feels different now is that the excitement comes from alignment. I wake up energized because the work reflects my values, creativity, and purpose all at once.

Building The Rejuv Room has been the first time I’ve felt fully lit up by what I’m creating. It blends medicine, beauty, education, and community in a way that feels deeply personal. Even on the hard days, there’s a sense of momentum and meaning, like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

That kind of excitement isn’t about everything being easy; it’s about feeling connected to the work in a way that makes the effort feel worthwhile.
