Dr. Cindy Tsai’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

Dr. Cindy Tsai shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Cindy, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Playing golf has been bringing me a lot of joy lately. It’s a sport that challenges me physically and mentally, but also gives me a chance to be outdoors and fully present. I love seeing the progress in my game as I get better—it’s a reminder that growth is fun, and that joy comes not just from the results but from enjoying the process along the way.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Dr. Cindy Tsai, an award-winning physician, TEDx speaker, bestselling author, and wellness entrepreneur. With extensive training from Johns Hopkins and Dartmouth, I’m double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine. After experiencing burnout early in my career, I realized true health isn’t just about treating symptoms—it’s about prevention and caring for the whole person. Today, I run a telemedicine practice focused on wellness and longevity, helping people optimize their health so they can feel and perform at their best. I also consult with organizations to bring these same principles into the workplace, supporting leaders and teams to prevent burnout and thrive. Through my book So Much Better, coaching programs, and energy healing work, I share science-backed and holistic tools to help people build resilience and create lives of greater calm, confidence, and clarity.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
I learned the most about work from my parents. They worked incredibly hard to create opportunities for me, and watching their sacrifices taught me discipline, integrity, and persistence. I’m deeply grateful for their example as it shaped my work ethic and reminded me that while hard work matters, it should always be balanced with intention and well-being.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self: “Stop being so hard on yourself. Life isn’t about checking boxes or chasing achievements… It’s about enjoying the journey, sharing your gifts, and learning and growing along the way. You don’t have to prove your worth through accomplishments; you are already worthy. The more you allow yourself to be present, the more meaningful and fulfilling life becomes.”

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A belief I’m deeply committed to is that health is the foundation for everything. For me, it’s about staying in the best shape I can—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It’s not about being perfect, but about making small, intentional choices every day that keep me feeling strong and well. I see health as a lifelong practice, and I’m grateful I get to live it personally while also helping others tune into their bodies and build habits that support lasting vitality.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in nature—whether it’s walking by the ocean, meditating in a forest, or simply sitting in the sun. Being outdoors helps me slow down, breathe, and reconnect with myself. In those moments, I’m reminded that peace isn’t something to seek, but something that’s always there—by being fully present and open to the beauty around you and within you.
