Kevin started our business in 1993 by painting inflatables wholesale for other companies. Tracey started working with him a few months later learning how to paint on the job. As the business grew, we hired artists to help us paint peaking at 15 employees–10 airbrush artists and 5 in our screen printing department. I was born and spent my early years in Somalia during the 1990’s, a time of civil war and the accompanying atrocities. Life for all Somalians was changed during this time, but for my tribe the repercussions were especially violent. My ancestors were slaves brought from Mozambique and Tanzania in the late 19th century. My partner, Jennie and I were both working at different design firms at the time we launched Arc Media in 2006. Many of the architectural firms we were in contact with were in need of design services for environmental and presentation graphics. Essentially signage, landmarks, renderings and other items to accentuate architectural projects.
