Today we’d like to introduce you to Makenna Kovach
Hi Makenna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Mace. My full name is Makenna Kovach, but my parents loved the name Macy as a nickname, which then again got shortened to Mace.
I have always had a passion for health and wellness. My mom was in the “almond mom” era, but not to the extreme. She taught me the importance of taking care of your body and mind. So from a young age I was influenced and interested in the health space.
Even though I was interested in health, it didn’t always mean I made the healthiest choices. Like most high school young ladies, I was involved in sports and fitness. However I didn’t always nourish my body the way someone should in sports. Then there was the comparison… us young ladies didn’t have the healthiest mindset around our bodies.
On top of that came the partying, the semi toxic young love relationships, and the stressful year of college applications.
It wasn’t all bad, I truly did care about my body and what I was putting in it, just maybe not as much as I do now.. Knowing the information that I know.
Eventually the above transcended into chronic illness. First, hypothyroidism and borderline Hashimotos. Chronic UTIs and pelvic pain. Then IBS – the fancy word for “we don’t know what’s wrong with you” take tums or remove gluten.
I always had heavy periods and PMS symptoms, so then came the final piece. The birth control prescription. Everyone was doing it and your doctor recommended it, so it must be safe right? Wrong.
This only got worse during my college years. It was manageable but not fun. I became the guineau pig of every issue, determined to find a solution.
Me and my almond mom were always doing our own research. We are self-proclaimed master researchers. Sometimes to our own demise.
Every summer would be some new anti-inflammatory diet that would reverse these symptoms but then they would come right back or it would be something new. I was playing wacka mole with my symptoms. Eventually completely getting off birth control, which I quickly realized was the best/worst decision.
After college became corporate job stress, which then became nervous system dysregulation.
Fast forward to about 5 years ago when I discovered the book – In the Flo by Alisa Vitti. It was where I discovered cycle syncing and how to balance your hormones naturally.
It was a lightbulb moment that I couldn’t believe not all women knew about! Cycle syncing is syncing your lifestyle in accordance to the 4 phases of the women’s menstrual cycle. Menstrual, Follicular, Ovulatory and Luteal.
I started implementing this information into my daily life and I never went back. So many symptoms improved, I felt empowered in my body, and I knew when to give myself grace. I started combining this with other holistic health principles I learned throughout the years, and I found the secret sauce. I wanted to scream this on the top of the mountain.
And I did. That’s when I started Mace. A community to share this information with everyone! Grounded in realistic and authentic holistic health. A community to help women feel their best and find their hormonal rhythm.
My friends would call me “Doctor Makenna” because I had gone through so many issues, but I always seemed to have a way to manage them. I always could help them. It eventually became my passion to help them. To help all women.
Fast forward to now where I am wrapping up my studies in becoming a Women’s Health Coach. With the hopes in continuing my education and experience wherever I feel guided to.
The funny thing is, so many men in my life follow my account and come up to me to tell me that they apply this information to their wives/girlfriends. So I guess I’m not just here to educate women!
I know I I don’t have the largest following, but I’ve never felt so grounded and inspired to help women be empowered in their bodies so that they can take control of their health. I know as long as I stay true to myself that’s all that matters.
My specialties include overall women’s health, hormone balancing, cycle syncing expert, hypermobility/histamine management.
I am excited to be on this journey with you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. It’s on ongoing battle with my PMS symptoms and pain, histamine issues, and migraines. It’s sometimes like playing wackamole with my symptoms. I am able to relate to people who come to me because I have most likely experienced it with them. But sometimes I feel like a failure when I have a bad month, or a flare. I have to remind myself that healing isn’t linear.
It also took me a while to find a coaching program that was affordable and that I could do self-study. I still work a corporate job in Commercial Real Estate so I needed to find something that was flexible with my schedule.
I very much struggle sometimes to balance all of my studies and my day job. I also post on instagram and tik tok so it can be very overwhelming to juggle everything.
My dream is to take on Mace. full-time when I can generate enough income. So it’s a daily struggle between dreams and reality!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Certified Women’s Health and Wellness Coach! Finishing up my hours in coaching.
My specialties include overall women’s health, hormone balancing, a cycle syncing expert, mindset, and hypermobility/histamine management.
I am rooted in holistic, functional health that targets issues at the root. My practice includes mindset coaching, grounding practices, functional nutrition, lifestyle optimization, and personalized guidance.
My passion is helping women find their hormonal rhythm and take control of their health. I am here to educate women on what they did not teach us in school.
That cycle syncing can be a tool for women to feel empowered in their bodies.
I am also here to educate men on how women’s bodies’ work so they can support their partners.
I am most proud of when I make a true impact on someone’s life. When they are shocked to discover that there are 4 phases of the menstrual cycle and we as women are supposed to be living cyclically with them.
When I see a client or friend and and they tell me they are feeling better, got their period back, and are having less symptoms.
I have experienced every symptom in the book, so I truly relate to women when they come to me. I can connect their symptoms to things they never thought would be the causation. Not only do I bring my master researching knowledge and experience, I bring empathy. I bring compassion. And I bring me! Making healthier choices doesn’t need to be mundane, we can make it fun.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I appreciate any support and I am here to help women feel empowered!
