Exploring Life & Business with Anthony Walker of Finance Friday

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Walker.

Hi Anthony, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Finance Friday started as a video series focused on business, entrepreneurship, and investing that was inspired by my parents. They were business owners who raised me and my siblings to bet on ourselves in life and in business. When the pandemic started I lost my job and began studying the stock market. That is when I realized that a lot of the information being shared at the highest levels of business was already taught to me in my home by my parents. When I realized the value of the information they taught me, I decided to share that information with the public via social media. As people consumed the information and engaged with the content, I decided to start a clothing line that coincided with the principles we were sharing in the video series, and Finance Friday the clothing line was born. More recently I released a children’s book called “B is For Black Wealth” to extend this education from adults to children and their families.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think the struggle for most startups including my own is a combination of not enough time and not enough money. I personally feel like I have so many ambitions for my business that I will always have something more to invest my money or time into. This is a good problem because I foresee myself building my business over the long term but I also want to be more present and enjoy the successes that my business exhibits on a daily basis.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Finance Friday?
Our business is called Finance Friday, the foundation of our business is a unique approach to financial education that includes audio, visual, and written media. We are best known for our merchandise that includes statements related to financial independence and communal wealth-building practices. We have differentiated ourselves by creating products that push our specific message of financial freedom in non-traditional ways that reach the masses. Some of these products include clothing and our children’s book “B is For Black Wealth.” As a brand, I am most proud of our ability to collaborate with others to drive attention, develop trust with larger audiences, and drive revenue. Currently, we have merchandise and children’s books for sale. We are also developing an investing course for families that complements our Children’s book. Lastly, we deliver consistent educational content through social media accounts that drives value directly to our community.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My business is a clear example of the strength of my community. As I mentioned before, Finance Friday was founded on the principles passed onto me by my parents and it has been sustained by people who have grown to respect the brand and the story. My siblings have also been big contributors to the vision and collective movement that we have created. My brother Giovanni Herrera is a talented graphic designer who has done a lot of the graphics associated with Finance Friday. My sister Shola Walker who is also an entrepreneur from San Diego has been a big support as well. She has given me access to her office space “Golden Key Offices” for various uses included photo and video shoots as well as virtual office space for many of my backend business needs. I also have to give a tremendous amount of credit to the publishers of my book Channing and Chelsae Moreland who have been pivotal to me creating and delivering a product that we can all be proud of as a community. Lastly, my cousin Alonzo Harvey has been an early and active investor, sales rep, and a visionary partner to Finance Friday on the merchandise side.
