Exploring Life & Business with Brian Suarez of Provecho Events & Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Suarez.

Brian Suarez

Hi Brian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins in Mexico City around the year 2009, it was then when I was first introduced to the restaurant industry. I was a young teenager then but I was old enough to comprehend the family business and admire the legacy my grandparents restaurants had become. I would continue to help my father for the next few years operating the family business and learning the ins and outs of the restaurant world. My journey in Mexico City would end late 2011 when I would move back to San Diego to finish high school, although my time in Mexico City was short lived it would serve as a benchmark in my future ambitions as an entrepreneur.

After High-school I found myself back in the restaurant industry working my way through various restaurants/positions and eventually reaching the peak of my career as a Catering Manager for a French Bakery in 2018.
My time as a Catering Manager was cut short in 2020 when the pandemic would bring the world to a halt.
Having difficulty to adjust to the pandemic I struggled with depression and resorted to alcoholism.
While this part of my story might not be the most appealing it would eventually connect me with my current girlfriend whom I have two beautiful children with.

In 2021 I had my first child and although it might sound cliche to say my whole life changed and my perspective on life shifted. Motivated by fatherhood and inspired by my family’s history in the industry I created Provecho Events & Catering, the concept of Provecho was to bring an elevated catering experience to the taco catering industry. We held our first taco tasting early 2023 and went live with our concept June of 2023, since then we continue to strive to offer our guest an unforgettable overall experience, while continuing to learn and grow in the industry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Having worked the industry long enough to know to expect the worst but hope for the best, we were fortunate enough to not encounter any unforeseen struggles along the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Provecho Events & Catering?
We are a catering company that specializes in taco caterings. I believe our guest service and presentation is what sets us apart, however our flavor profiles is what keeps our guest coming back.

What matters most to you? Why?
Guest relationships and experiences along with family.

We are focused on creating genuine experiences with our guest.

I was raised to believe that the time spent eating with your family was sacred, and to be able to be a part of someone else’s sacred gathering means a lot to me.
