Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Owens
Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my practice as a pelvic floor physical therapist because I saw a profound need for specialized care in this often-overlooked area of health – both pelvic and women’s health. Through my training and personal experiences, I realized the significant impact that pelvic floor physical dysfunction can have on a person’s quality of life, including chronic pelvic pain, incontinence, and sexual dysfunction. My mission is to help empower as many women as I can by helping them return to their optimal level of function.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. Once I decided to start my own practice, I quickly learned that I would have to wear many hats, such as marketing, admin, business development, and social media manager – all of which I knew very little about. It has been quite the learning curve!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Pelvitone is a private, women-owned pelvic floor physical therapy practice. I specialize in women’s health, treating issues such as urinary/fecal incontinence, sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, and low back pain. I also treat pediatric pelvic patients, which consists of mostly bed wetting and constipation. I offer one-on-one customized care with all of my patients in order to get them back to their optimal level of function as quickly as possible. My treatment sessions are offered both in the clinic (in Rancho Bernardo) and at home (anywhere in San Diego County).
What matters most to you? Why?
Women have been conditioned to normalize pelvic health issues (such as incontinence, pain, constipation, etc.), especially after having children. None of these issues are “normal,” and women do not need to deal with them for the rest of their lives. I am a firm believer that all postpartum women should be seen by a pelvic physical therapist to ensure that they will be able to return to their optimal level of function.
