Today we’d like to introduce you to Earl Jordan
Hi Earl, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Skylab Media Productions started in 2016 when I purchased toy drones for my two boys. My kids were not interested in flying the drones, but I was all about it. Inspired by aerial photography and aerial inspections, I quickly upgraded from multiple toy drones to a DJI Phantom 3 Pro and then a DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.
With my new drones, armed my FAA Part 107 license, and membership to Drone U, my hobby immediately evolved into commercial work under the business name of Skylab Aerial Services. Simultaneously, my job made me a small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) pilot. To this day, I have flown hundreds of missions for government, corporate, and private sectors from California to Texas.
Shortly after my drone work took off, my oldest son started travel football and my sister let me borrow her Canon T7 Rebel to grab photos and videos to help him with his recruiting efforts. I instantly fell in love with the camera while also becoming that parent who was taking pictures at every event.
At that same time, our church was short photographers, so I grabbed the Canon T7 and volunteered to help. Volunteering for our church taught me how to shoot low light events, outdoor events, how to capture emotional moments, how to shoot from within a crowd, how to shoot concerts, how to shoot behind-the-scenes, and how to be a Director of Photography.
Where church taught us how to capture and communicate emotional story telling. Shooting sports taught us how to capture and communicate intense action. All of this helped me become comfortable in various niches. We started getting calls from people, our credibility grew, and from there Skylab Media Productions was born.
Since then, we have shot events for the Ying Yang Twins, John Maxwell, NCAA football, Bunny Ball, Microsoft, KUSI News, and many more.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road became rough when I started shooting less and started focusing more on making us a business with a web presence, developing package offers, marketing, etc. It became so rough that I lost almost all clients. The clients I did have no longer wanted to hire me because I started charging what I was worth. The latter half of 2024 was discouraging but on a positive note it prompted me to get a mentor, and he was a game changer. He looked at my business and my vision and plotted out a simple path forward to be more profitable than I can imagen by the end of this summer.

Our mission is to become the media and marketing company of choice for local events and small businesses. We use media to produce stunning visuals to elevate business marketing campaigns. We use marketing to develop brand identity, implement strategies, and create content that resonates with your target audience.
Although we are known for amazing aerial imagery, we want your readers to know that we are amazing at event photography and videography and implementing media into marketing strategies.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Road trips with my family and Summer camps with our church when we would go to Clark Hills Lake to ski, knee board, bbq, and hang out.
