Exploring Life & Business with Emma Freer of Meemo Jeemo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Freer.

Hi Emma, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I spent over a decade in the retail industry, working for some incredible brands and learning what truly makes apparel both functional and beautiful. A few years ago, I became a mom for the first time and like many, I struggled postpartum. Much of that struggle stemmed from sleep deprivation. I’d wake up multiple times a night to feed and change diapers, and there were moments, in a complete fog, when I’d undress my baby only to find the diaper wasn’t even dirty.

Those moments stuck with me. I thought, “what if I could check the diaper without fully undressing my baby?” Sleep is so precious in those early months – I wanted to design something that saved even a few extra minutes and spared one unnecessary wake-up.

That idea became the SleekPeek Pajama – a thoughtfully designed onesie with a back opening that lets you check for a dirty diaper without undressing your baby. I spent three years researching the best materials, factories, and perfecting the design. Now, I’m thrilled to finally be launching this summer.

Through Meemo Jeemo, I’ve discovered a deep passion for designing products that make the transition into motherhood even just a little bit easier. Our motto is: Love the Mother, Love the Child. Because when we support moms, we support babies too. And with every pajama purchase, we donate diapers to a mother in need – a small but meaningful way to pay it forward.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building Meemo Jeemo has been a deeply rewarding journey, but it hasn’t always been smooth. Like many new entrepreneurs, especially as a stay-at-home mom balancing family life, I faced challenges juggling time, energy, and resources. Developing the pajama design took longer than expected because I was committed to finding the perfect materials and factory partners that matched my vision for quality and comfort.

Navigating the world of product development, manufacturing, and marketing while caring for a newborn and toddler tested my patience and resilience. There were many moments of doubt, especially when setbacks happened or progress felt slow. But my passion for creating a product that genuinely eases motherhood kept me going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Meemo Jeemo?

We’re building a brand that listens to moms, grows with them, and always keeps their needs at the forefront.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was adventurous and creative, always eager to explore the outdoors and try new things. I loved running barefoot through the woods, traveling to new places, and had a knack for finding treasures in thrift stores and turning them into something special. I’ve always had a strong sense of empathy, which made me value close relationships and caring for animals & others from a young age.

I was also responsible and hardworking, balancing school with jobs like babysitting and delivering newspapers. Team sports like volleyball helped me stay connected and grounded. These traits – curiosity, creativity, empathy, and resilience – have shaped who I am today.

My passion for fashion and design led me to a career in retail, but becoming a mom transformed my perspective. It inspired me to create products that genuinely make motherhood easier. That blend of creativity, care, and a desire to make a difference has always been at the heart of what I do.
