Exploring Life & Business with Gayathri Siva Kumar Jujaray of Scripps Notary

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gayathri Siva Kumar Jujaray.

Hi Gayathri Siva Kumar, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in a small town in Andhra Pradesh, India, where my family ran a silk saree dyeing factory. Business was not just work—it was life. Watching my parents manage operations, deal with clients, and stay resilient through ups and downs planted the seed of entrepreneurship in me at a young age. I always knew I wanted to build something of my own.

After getting married and relocating to the United States, I eventually settled in San Diego and began working in a retail environment. During that time, I focused on gaining practical experience, observing customer service dynamics, and building a financial foundation while actively exploring potential business opportunities. That path ultimately led me to the notary profession, which aligned perfectly with my skills, values, and long-term entrepreneurial goals.

I still remember my very first notary appointment. I was so nervous that my hands trembled. But I stayed focused. As I reviewed the client’s paperwork, I spotted a small error, one that could have delayed everything. The client looked at me, smiled, and said, “You saved me a lot of trouble.” When he found out it was my first notary assignment, he asked us to take a photo together. That moment filled me with quiet but lasting confidence.

From that point on, I committed myself fully. I began handling several notaries a day, sometimes as many as fourteen. Every client interaction taught me something new: how to be efficient, how to communicate clearly, and most importantly, how to earn trust.

My husband has been my rock throughout this journey. His unwavering belief in my potential gave me the courage to take the leap. After a year of consistent work, I founded Scripps Notary, a mobile notary service based right here in San Diego.

I designed my own marketing materials, flyers, business cards, and posters and started handing them out at local malls, coffee shops, and community centers. Not everyone responded, but I showed up anyway. I knew that showing up especially when the outcome is uncertain is the heart of building a business.

My first mobile notary call was to a home in a quiet San Diego neighborhood. The client needed a notary for his father, who was living with amnesia. I didn’t know what to expect. I was nervous, and a friend even half-joked, “Don’t get yourself killed.” But I went with a smile and an open heart. The father, though slow to engage, was cooperative. His son was relieved and grateful. As I left, he said, “Looks like he’s in a good mood today—you got lucky!” That visit changed everything. I realized I wasn’t just witnessing signatures—I was helping people in meaningful moments of their lives.

Since then, Scripps Notary has grown through word of mouth, Google reviews, and online bookings. I now serve a wide range of clients from law offices to everyday San Diegans needing notarizations at hospitals, nursing homes, or their front doors. I offer both scheduled and emergency appointments, because I know that life doesn’t always follow business hours.

San Diego has embraced me not just as a business owner, but as a neighbor. I feel a deep sense of gratitude every time I’m invited into someone’s home or office to do what I love.

If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s this: success isn’t about making noise, it’s about showing up, doing the work, and treating every client like they matter.

Whether you’re working with a lawyer to make a will/estate, managing legal paperwork, or simply need a quick notarization done right the first time, I’d be honored to help.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While I’ve truly enjoyed my journey as a notary, it hasn’t always been smooth. The early days of building Scripps Notary came with their fair share of challenges, especially as a newcomer trying to establish trust in a competitive field.

When I first started promoting my services, I printed business cards and flyers and headed to the local mall to hand them out in person. Some people were warm and encouraging, but many walked past without a glance. It was humbling but I reminded myself that every “no” brought me one step closer to a “yes.” I learned to stay resilient, show up with grace, and keep moving forward, no matter what the response.

As inquiries began to come in, a new challenge emerged: staying constantly available. In this business, responsiveness is everything. If I didn’t answer a call or reply to an email quickly, the opportunity could disappear. I made it a point to respond immediately, often picking up calls while juggling errands or answering messages late into the evening.

Balancing my growing business with family life was not easy. Some clients had very specific timing needs – early mornings, late evenings, weekends which meant rearranging my personal schedule on short notice. On several occasions, I had to leave my children in the care of a trusted friend just so I could fulfill an appointment. It was never easy, but I knew that every signed document brought me closer to financial independence and the entrepreneurial dream I’d carried with me since childhood.

To create a better balance, I began prioritizing mobile notary services within nearby areas, focusing on communities like Scripps Ranch, Poway, Mira Mesa, and surrounding neighborhoods. This allowed me to be more present for my family while continuing to serve the people of San Diego with professionalism and care.

Each challenge shaped me not just as a business owner, but as a person. I’ve learned that success isn’t always about big wins. Sometimes, it’s about staying committed, showing up every day, and finding strength in the quiet moments when no one else is watching.
