Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerald Palmes.
Hi Gerald, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in the Mira Mesa/Scripps Ranch area. I was an active kid and played all types of sports growing up. In high school I joined the wrestling team and dedicated myself to training. This was where I began to become interested in the human body. I attended UC-Irvine and studied biology. I knew I wanted to get into the health care field however I didn’t know where. After taking a career assessment test, I was introduced to chiropractic. I honestly had no idea what that was. I reached out to a chiropractor in the Irvine area and he told me how much he enjoyed his job. He was getting people better without the use of drugs and medication. He also had a special connection with his patients, there was so appreciative of him. He was helping people recover from chronic sciatica, chronic headaches, and so much more.
After attending Life Chiropractic College-West and being an associate in Livermore, CA for a couple more years, I moved back to San Diego to be closer to family. I opened up Best Life Chiropractic in Scripps Ranch, down the road from where I grew up. I want to help serve my community with the mission of helping people be the best version of themself. It’s difficult to be productive or be present with your kids when you have health issues like migraines or back pain. That’s why we do what we do.. make an impact on the community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. Covid was a tough time because no one knew what was going on. I had to make the difficult decision to let a staff member go due to the uncertainty. I was doing everything on my own for a a year or so. We were also without an x-ray unit on site for a number of years and we had to refer patients out to get this done. It made the patient experience a bit tougher for people to begin care with us, because seeing one’s xrays are crucial in being able to provide quality corrective care.
As you know, we’re big fans of Best Life Chiropractic. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Chiropractic office specializing in corrective care. We offer: chiropractic care, xrays, spinal decompression, shockwave therapy.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have faith that God has a reason for all things. It may seem like bad luck but it really may be just not the right time or right fit.
