Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Shabankar.
Hi Haley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business in 2019 after working for several well-known design firms over the years and wanted to carve out my own sustainable path where I could really thrive in my own element, have full creative control, and grow individually as a designer.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel nothing in business is necessarily a smooth road, and at minimum, there are typically lots of valleys to navigate. For example, one of struggles was the challenge of wearing multiple hats at one time, such as balancing design work, project management vs everyday back of house. With that said, I’ve learned how to structure my days with a clear set of realistic goals and one office day during the week to re-set and accomplish all I set out to do. I’ve chosen to take all the learning experiences, positive and negative to grow and make me a better designer and businesswoman.
We’ve been impressed with Brovia Interiors, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Brovia Interiors is a is a locally owned, full-service, boutique style Interior Design firm based in Cardiff-By-The-Sea. We offer interiors design services to residential and small businesses, including full room design, material selection, consulting, and we specialize in kitchen and bath design.
Brovia works with a wide range of budgets, large and small. We certainly don’t discriminate against the smaller projects that may need a quick freshen-up, as they can be just as fun and rewarding.
Our brand represents a clean-lined modern esthetic with a bright yet warm earthy vibe. Scrolling our IG account, you may notice a modern coastal kitchen with a mid-century modern bathroom or Art Nouveau-style bedroom sprinkled in. I take pride in the fact I can offer eclecticism and enjoy when clients challenge me as a designer, as it helps me broaden my range and flex my design muscles that much more.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I would have to say the most valuable lesson I have learned so far in my professional journey is learning the importance of structuring your days/ weeks in way that creates enough time for an appropriate amount of self-care. Burnout can be detriment to you and your clients.
