Exploring Life & Business with Kaan Peksen of White&Melon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaan Peksen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started White&Melon when I was a student at San Diego State University. I got my inspiration from visited of Volcom Co-Founder to the Entrepreneurship Club. He told me the ways that I can appeal to people from the West Coast and create a clothing brand that will attract everyone all around the world.

I have started designing the clothes and producing small quantities to test people’s reaction on my clothing. People’s positive reaction towards my designs and the quality of the garments. I want to create a clothing company where you can buy organic cotton sustainable clothes for affordable prices. I started to sell more and more in San Diego. That is when the idea of creating a clothing company came to my mind.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth ride. There were many struggles along the way, such as logistics and warehousing. Production was done abroad, so it has to be shipped to the United States. Mass Production of any good is challenging. In the beginning, it seems like an easy process on small quantities but when you start to mass produce, you have many challenges

As a company, we aim to provide the best quality garments to our customers. There should be no flaws at the clothing. Our customers should have the best experience when they wear our garments. In a nutshell, it has not been a smooth road, but we can and will overcome any challenges and obstacles.

We’ve been impressed with White&Melon, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
White&Melon is a Californian Clothing brand that produces garments from sustainable sources and organic cotton. We are known for high-quality cotton fabric. We have hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts, shorts, and sweatpants from organic cotton. The designs of our products are unique, so that is a differentiating factor from the other companies in the textile industry.

We are proud to use sustainable resources and work with factories that pays fair wage to factory workers.

We offer a soft and comfortable cotton garments experience to our customers. We offer this with competitive and fair pricing for our items.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My father deserves credit. He taught me everything that I know about the textile industry. He was my mentor in creating this company. He taught me how to maintain a profitable business. He taught me how to create a business plan. He taught me how to make a company. Other than that, I learned different things by doing.
