Today we’d like to introduce you to Korinne Arzola
Hi Korinne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in San Diego with my parents, Paulina and Jason Arzola, and my older sister, Brenna, who’s also my best friend. My parents instilled in me the importance of staying active and healthy, which had a profound influence on my life. I spent much of my childhood playing sports and staying on the move, experiences that shaped who I am today.
As the founder of Raiz Tea, a premium adaptogenic mushroom loose-leaf tea company, I’m excited to share my journey with you.
From a young age, I knew entrepreneurship was my calling. I’ve always admired those who ran their own businesses, especially my dad, a General Contractor with his successful company. One of the things I cherished most growing up was his flexible schedule, and it became a dream of mine to have that kind of freedom.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are of running lemonade stands with my sister in front of our house—I loved every moment of it.
In high school, I began my entrepreneurial journey by coming up with ideas to sell to my friends and finding ways to make a profit. It was something that just came naturally to me.
In my 20s, I shifted gears, working as a server and putting my business dreams on hold. I even tried real estate but quickly realized that wasn’t the right fit for me—I’m a creative at heart.
Then, when I turned 30, everything clicked. A friend of mine needed help with a candy business, and I dove in, learning how to create a product from start to finish and how to grow a business. I was hooked on the process and realized it was the perfect time to start my own venture.
Raiz Tea was born in 2022. Before that, I had two failed tea businesses, but I was fortunate to be surrounded by incredible people who supported me—especially my cousin, Brittney, who moved to San Diego from Portland. She helped guide me and gave me the confidence to take things slow and keep pushing forward. I was also introduced to Chloe, my cousin’s best friend and a talented graphic designer, who helped bring Raiz’s vision to life. I’ll always be grateful for these two amazing women. Having two creatives by my side made all the difference.
Since then, I’ve poured my heart into growing Raiz Tea, and today we’re in five locations across San Diego: Pump Coffee, Ocean Pacific Gym & Wellness, Courtyard Marriott Liberty Station, Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites in Little Italy, and Bay Park Coffee. Building this business has been my life’s most rewarding and challenging experience. I’m incredibly proud to offer a high-quality product to the people of San Diego and beyond—one that not only tastes amazing but is also good for you. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been many challenges and obstacles I’ve faced along the way, but one of the biggest was going inward. In my 20s, I had certain habits that I realized wouldn’t serve me in my 30s if I wanted to pursue my dream of building a successful business. I knew I had to make a change. So, I worked really really hard on myself through therapy, reading books, and spending countless hours listening to podcasts and simply learning new skills. Learning, growing, and constantly striving to be a better version of myself have become essential to me, and I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made throughout the past 5 years of my life.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising about my journey is that I’ve had multiple failed business attempts. I’ve gone through the whole process—designing products (I always have a clear vision for every design and can be a total perfectionist about my creations, even though the majority of them failed LOL), working with graphic designers, getting them printed, and making the products over and over. These ventures took a lot of financial investment, but they also taught me to have a pretty high tolerance for risk. Even with all the setbacks, I’m so grateful for the determination I’ve had over the past five years. Creating Raiz Tea has made every challenge and every penny spent completely worth it.
