In 1999, GSI’s Van Nuys branch transitioned into GeoSoils Consultants, Inc. (GSC), expanding its reach throughout Southern California. In a move to enhance client service and operational efficiency, GSC has now rejoined GSI, combining our strengths under one unified organization. This continues to reflects GSI’s commitment to offering seamless continuity of service while maintaining its hallmark focus on quality and professionalism.
Now, with leadership boasting over 100 years of combined expertise and team members that have worked together for more than 20 years, GSI offers an unparalleled continuity of service and knowledge to its clients.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In its earlier years, GSI navigated a complex operational shift with the separation of the Los Angeles and San Diego offices. This required a focused effort to maintain service quality and local expertise in both regions, ensuring that clients experienced no disruption during the transition.
In 1999, GSI’s Van Nuys branch transitioned into GeoSoils Consultants, Inc. (GSC), expanding its reach throughout Southern California. The ultimate test of our foundation came with the 2008 recession. The subsequent collapse of the commercial market dramatically decreased opportunity, pushing the company to the brink of closure. It was through the loyalty of our long-term clients and the determination of our core team that GSI survived, cementing a culture of lean operation and client-first commitment.
More recently, the shift in the San Diego area market, particularly the sustained decrease in larger residential development jobs, has required us to pivot strategically. This reality prompted a deep, internal examination to define GSI’s place in the modern landscape. We are excited to continue to be a part of the San Diego community for the future.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I exhibited a strong foundational set of characteristics that have directly shaped my professional approach today. I was notably studious and focused, treating my education not just as a requirement, but as a primary objective. This led to a serious and disciplined demeanor, where I was less interested in distractions and more committed to mastering the task at hand. Above all, I was profoundly driven, meaning I consistently set high personal standards and pushed myself to achieve them. This combination resulted in a highly organized and goal-oriented student who took great pride in applying diligence and thorough preparation to every endeavor, a habit I bring into every role.
